Thoughts on the Link ECU for standalone engine management...

Allright, so I've been pouring over the Link 1's installation documents, my runoffs of the FSM for the wiring harness, and you know; just reading and trying to figure out if this is a feasible option.

So here's my compilation of the findings (I know some of you don't have a big enough attention span to do most of this ;)

Advantages of Link1:
Wideband O2 sensor input. / Narrow as well.
Fully tuneable ignition and fuel maps, and so forth. fun stuff.
Compatible with most stock sensors..
excellent tuning interface.
..
uhm, yeah, that's about it.


Disadvantages of Link1 ECU:
$1200 - what can I say, I'm a cheap bastard.
Can only drive the Idle solenoid OR the boost solenoid, not both.
Doesn't accept VSS input (not sure if this matters)
or starter switch input
or knock sensor input
doesn't control the CPC solenoid.
doesn't do sequential fuel injection.

yeah.. and it lacks alot of grounds, making you have to do alot of grounding yourself. it'd be better if the unit had more built in ground points.

The Link 2 does alot of what the Link 1 doesn't do (A/C control, yada yada) - but it lacks the WideBand O2 sensor input and some other stuff.
Oh, and the price tag on that is almost $1800


My upper limit is $1500, I suppose I need to look at autronic again.

I looked at the PerfectPower - I do not like the interface one damn bit. It looks like it was tossed together and some stuff is too confusing to tune..

And the Link is made in New Zealand!
