For those of you who have two or more BC/BF's, be careful....

My Patti's gas gauge has grown very erratic over the past year, ever since I've been hanging out with renmaxi, whose 91 turbo has a very screwed-up gas gauge.

Coincidence? I think not.

Now Patti's driver auto seat belt has been acting up. Occasionally, the mouse will jerk along as it moves, or like what happened today, it refused to come back when I started the car, until I reopened and reclosed the door. Also while I'm driving, the seat belt light will start flashing when I hit a bump or something, and then I can wiggle the belt and it will turn off and stop flashing. So I have a loose connection in there somewhere.

Strange that the wagon has a code stored in the seat belt comp, and the seat belt light has been flashing ever since we got it...

Oh, and the wagon has developed a slight wheel bearing noise

Thats no good. My other SS doesn't have a transmission!

the gas guage thing is common. If i spend more than a minute at over 100, i drop a half a tank for a while. It will wander up and down occasionally too. I attribute it to 'personality'

My car's gauge doesn't work either. However, the low fuel light still works .

you might want to check with the dealer about that seat belt. on my honda the seat belts are lifetime warranty because it's a fundamental safety issue. i just show up, tell them it doesn't work, and they fix/replace it. i don't know if it's the same with subaru...

I think the Honda belts are lifetime due to a settlement with the feds over "defective" belts... the japanese engineers said the problem with the latches was due to Americans eating food in thier cars and dropping food into the latch recepticles

the feds disagreed and said it was the red button plastic degrading due to lack of UV stabilizers. Needeless to say the feds won. There were several japanese car makes so affected due to common suppliers.

I don't think this will get you squat when it comes to your belt problem, unfortunately

The subaru belts are lifetime, IIRC, but I don't have my manual in front of me.. who's got an owners' manual handy?

at least your 'low fuel' light works my gas gauge will creep down until it hits half a tank then just bottoms out...

It's a federally required law. Seat belts MUST have a warranty for the lifetime of the vehicle. This applies to ALL cars.

I think the only lifetime belts are the non-automatic ones.

Are you sure? The belt itself SHOULD be under warranty, but associated components (the mouse and such) wouldn't be covered.

If the belts are covered under a lifetime warranty, then I should look into getting my passenger side lap belt replaced. The weaving ripped I guess, where you can see the "Replace Belt" writing.

Can anyone show that law officially or lead me somewhere that I can find it? I'll take it into the dealer and if they give me shit, rub that in their face.

Does the desease affect BJ's that hang out with BC/BF's? My BC has the weird gas guage thing but I don't want my BJ to get it.

I have a 93 Legacy that has that erratic gas guage problem. I am not sure if the light is still good as when I have filled it up there must still be quite a bit of gas left. I know in filling it up it goes to near 3/4 of a tank then creeps up to the full mark where it will be most of the time until it drops bellow the 1/2 tank where it may drop to completely empty before moving up to the 1/4 mark. It is apparent that several years of this car have the same think. I did a search on erratic fuel gauge and came up with only (2) links. Is there more to this than meets the eye or does everyone just live with it as I have done so far...thanks

It is apparent to me that it is either the gauge itself that does this or the sender in the tank that must be sticking, or not responding properly. I also wonder if anyone knows where I can get a replacement key for this car? thanks
