Has anyone had , or know someone who has had good experiences with a particular type (brand name) of slotted rotors and pad combo?

My passenger side caliper siezed to the glid pin and chewed the hell out my new rotors and pads

So I figured I could change them out for something a little better.

P.S I would like to do the wrx swap, but dont have 16" wheels. Damn.

I'm holding off on the WRX brakes for a bit, so I'm about about to order $38 brembo blanks from importrp.com, assuming the pads I ordered are what I want.

For some reason the super expensive overnight air shipping is default. I almost paid for it because they don't show the total before you confirm the order. I thought it was strange so I went back and checked, and I'm glad I did. They also cancelled delivery and said I'd pick up the pads from UPS or something, even though I knew nothing about it until I checked the tracking number today and found out they were about to be sent back to the seller. That actually turns out to be more convienent for me, though.

Be wary. The prices are good though, so I'm hoping this works out. I'm ordering the rotors tomorrow if the pads are right.


Slotted rotors are a waste of money.

WRX wheels are cheap and abundant. The WRX swap can be easily done.

I COMPLETELY transformed my brake system. My stock brakes were lame and I would start fading them immediately when hitting backroads. I boiled fluid regularly, and was overall disappointed with the system.

Now that I have WRX front brakes, good fluid, SS lines, a BF prop valve, and good pads, I can stop on a dime and give change.

That's my plan. I was like, hey, WRX front calipers and brackets for $100, woo!. $60 rear WRX calipers and free SS lines- I'll take them. Axxis Ultimate pads all around for $70. Score! Wait, rotors, "H6" rear caliper brackets, clips and shims are going to be like $400? Shit.



I'm just buying stock front rotors and pads for now. Guess I'll see how long the nice brakes sit in my room.

I'm a big fan of oem rotors, and im currently running axxis ultimates, which dust like little bishes, but ive never had a decent set of pads that were really good on dust.

You could get 2.5rs brakes, and then go to wrx rotors just by swapping the brake bracket.

Hey phil, are you sure you really boiled the fluid? I usually have black brake fluid, even when i haven't had any particularly exciting brake fade problems since i swapped. My understanding is that boiled fluid = complete loss of braking ability, i've always been able to get off the road safely. Hell, i could get the rotors bright orange on my semi race pad equipped bmw, and it still stopped good enough.

Boiled fluid generally gives you a feeling of serious mushiness. The pedal drops to the floor fairly easily. You can still stop, just not THAT well. You'll know whats going on, as it requires more and more pedal travel to get the brakes going.

In west virginia, we had Dragon like roads.

huh. Did you boil the fluid when you had crap pads, or good ones? In my experience, crap pads will go from soft enough to 'oh shit, pedal to the floor' in 1 80-0 stop, if they've already been heated up.

Stock brakes, I was using Napa pads. My first setup with WRX brakes, was using Ultimates all around, and I had fewer problems, until several miles into the twisties.

Well, picked up my Ultimates today, and they are the right pads and everything. $47 shipped, I think it was. I should call this number to see why they were changed to will call. At least the UPS place is on my way home from work.
