I have finally decided that I'd like to go ahead and swap a younger EJ22E into my car. My engine is burning significant oil (quart per 200-300mi) and just doesn't sound too right. It doesn't have the power it used, etc. etc., but damn I'm glad she's been back .

My current thinking is that I'll get just the engine itself, block, head and internals. I'd then be able to replace seals and such with it on a bench/stand and then once it's done I'll pull my engine. Take off all my sensors/intake/wiring/etc. from my current engine and put onto the new engine. Drop it back in and be good to go. I've been doing some searching on the swap itself so I won't bother everybody yet with those questions but I do have a few questions about getting this new engine.

I'm thinking something around 120-140k mi should be reasonably priced, in good shape, and relatively easy to find. Reasonable?

When shopping around the jy's and such, anything in particular I should be looking for/asking? Are there any 'standard' warrenties?

Which seals do I need to start budgeting for?

Anything I missed, any other opinions? Thanks as always.

budget for a timing belt as well. I'd shoot for a motor from a running wreck if you can find one, that way you can judge the condition (compression, oil color, plugs) for yourself

Since I just put a new timing belt on my old engine to get it running, I'm guessing I'll put about 500-1000 mi. before the new engine, can I just use my new belt off my old engine?

Any ballpark ideas on price for a decent longblock? Obvisiously it's all relative but something to give me an idea if I'm getting ripped off.

With or without warranty? Junk yards that offer warranties (generally 30-90 days) will charge more, but will likely do compression, maybe leak down tests on them. Untested, no warranty, I've seen for $150.

I spent about $600 to rebuild my last one. That includes oil pan, water pump, oil pump, misc. hardware, t-belt, and gasket kit. I also strongly recommend doing rings too (I didn't ).
