wrx axles on 91ss?

I have a 91 legacy turbo w/manual and my axles are shot and I need some really, and my friend whose a subaru mechanic have some 02 wrx axles forsale. Does anyone know if they will work for my car because I he told my told I have the same tranny as an 02 wrx.
