Looking to trade a TD04L off of 2003 WRX wagon, for a VF11 or VF10.
The turbo has 2000 miles on it, and its almost in perfect condition (a little bit og soot in the exhaust side).
Looking to trade for a turbo in the same condition preferably, but and offers are welcome.
Thanks.

You'll be hard pressed to find a VF11 in similar condition to you almost brand new TD04. The VF11 last came on a car that sold 11 years ago. You might get one that is in very good condition but it will have a lot more miles on it.

you can have my vf11 for $5 plus the cost of shipping. I cannot attest to it's condition though, as i've not been giving the car proper cool-down time after driving it and it has 172k miles on it

I'm looking for a turbo that will bolt onto my EA82 with the least modifications possible.
With the TD04, you need to change the flange on the exhaust manifold.
But on the VF11, all you need to do is rotate the intake housing and get different exuast.
$5 plus shipping?
you have a pm.
Thanks.

The TD04 and the VF11 have the same exhaust housing flange....

Yep. They both have the 5 bolt flange, you want the old 4 bolt flange.

If your cooling system is stock there's no cool-down time needed.

that's odd, my visor says to allow 1 minute for cool-down time after heavy highway driving. I'm assuming high rpm driving is at least as stressful heatwise to the engine as highway driving

The visor's advice is good but not necessary. The visor's just a little behind the times.

Subaru says you don't have to idle new age (02+) turbo models. They explain about how the cooling system is designed to keep coolant flowing through the turbo after you park.

In actuality, that system first appeared on the first-generation Legacy. Our cooling system is pretty much the same as the WRX's.

With the pre-EJ turbo engines, idling was necessary.

Unless you have modified your cooling system like I have, you don't need to worry about cooling.

I simply have a turbo timer to do the cool-down for my lazy ass.

the exhaust flange i was talking about was the part where the uppipe connects to the turbo. Is that flange the same as that of a TD04?

Yes; that flange is also the same on the TD04 and on the VF11.

Meaning you'll have the same issues.

anyone out there have a bootleg copy of a TWE header? or have some sort of equevalent for cheap? why cant all the flanges be universal. :(

For just the flange, couldn't you buy a used stock WRX uppipe for next to nothing?

yes, those are easy to come by.
i just found this link http://www.uniquemotorsports.com/products/products.htm
there are many flanges and other goodies on this sight.

I have all the turbo stuff of a EA82, also have a stock legacy turbo in good condition and down pipes. Let me know if you need any of that.

Within a few weeks I should have the vf34 installed and the vf11 will be available.

Prolly 150k miles on it, but over the past 3 years since I bought the twgn, it has been working fine and I always drive the last few blocks before home real easy to let it cool off.
