Ok, so I was re-installing the Sirius receiver in the back of the trunk, and as I was gazing upwards, an epiphany hit me.

So I did a little research and BADA BING! I was right. THEY DO EXIST.

( so before you all think WTF is he saying, check out these pics.)

NOW, take a second and notice what EXTRA part these cars have.

That is my new quest. DAMMIT, I want a rear wiper!

That's going to take a rear window, deck plastic, a motor, a wiper, a place to plug it in..and a switch to use it. That'll be a challenge to get done.

And here I am thinking you meant the rear bumper skirt...

OK, I have seen people buy the STI JDM rear clip and transplant over the glass, wiper and most of the wiring for the GC8's. Since my stalk is from an 02 wrx and works, I would just swap that out for a wagon stalk and add the extra two wires. ( three If I wanted the squirter.)

SO, why not do the same thing for the Legacy? ( Since legacies are a LOT cheaper to buy anyway.)

Get a rear clip and have it shipped.

AND it just so happens my brother is in Osaka, so he now has a small quest.

Rear wipers rock. One of the few things I miss after going from BF to BC.

I couldn't leave without my rear wiper either. Its name is "RainX" and doesn't even require electricity!

Jeez where do you people live that it rains hard enough to need a rear wiper??

Anywhere where it rains.

Washington State?

Rainx damages the glass also. Wax works just as well, but when you have a flat surface for the back of your car, you get all sorts of cavitation, and your back window gets horribly dirty. Good to have the rear wiper to see out the back.

It does? I didn't know that. Why do they continue to sell it then? And also, why does it make my glass super smooth?

It doesn't have to rain for the rear wiper to be useful. There are many days when I'm glad I drive the SVX rather than the Legacy, and it hasn't rained since like april or something.

Rear wiper is also great for snow, dust, and dirt/mud.
Seeing out the back is nice.

rain-x basically chemically bonds to the coating on the outside of your glass. Then it wears away and your glass gets crappier and crappier. If you continue to use it, you'll have no problems, but if you ever decide to stop, your glass won't go back to the way it was. At least that's my understanding of it.

Why do they continue to sell it you ask? They still sell Fram oil filters and coilover sleeves.

As I've said before.....Rain-x is like crack!!! Once you start....you can't stop.

It's just as easy and effective to wax your windows, and that leaves no bad stuff on the windshield

I never rain-x'd my rear door windows..and they look the same as my front door windows which I rain-x'd a long time ago...

I have found a company in Japan that is hunting for the part for me and will container it to here for me.

Results will be months later, but it is in motion.
