ok that's what I believe is what is known as a tri axle dump truck

said truck was parked on the side of Route 15 today as I was coming home from school, I could smell burnt oil and stuff before I passed it

it looks like the back most axle snapped at the left hub, you can't see it in the pic but thats what it looked like when I drove next to it, it took out the tires on the left side axle, he was loaded too I think with asphalt

I work with heavy trucks and all i can say is that could've been easily prevented.

A reminder to all - check your vehicles periodically for wear and abuse. Don't let an easy fix turn into a horrible disaster by saying "eh, I'll get to that later". Imagine that wheel flying at YOUR car on the freeway! Imagine what the insurance nazis would do if procrastination on you part caused someone to die.

Think of the baby seals, too.

Looks to me like the left hub came off. Maybe it seized or maybe it just broke from use...

At least it wasn't a sewage truck...
