sup i live in nz and own a 1994 BG legacy manual, running the
EJ20 twin turbo
its got quite a bit done to it KS ROM ecu, HKS sequential BOV
filter, exhaust, flared kit etc

problem is its suppose to run 12psi on the first turbo and 18psi
on the second turbo which it does most of the time, but sometimes
only runs 10psi on the first and 10psi on the second
this problem is only intermittent happens every now and then,
which is pissing me off, any ideas??
primary turbo is VF13 and secondary is VF14

How is the KS ROM ECU setup?

There's a good chance, that if it's just altering the ECU's code, there could be breaks and the ECU freaks out and goes to wastegate boost.

How are you controlling boost? Is the KS ROM ECU controlling it with the stock solenoids? If so, you may want to reconsider your boost control method.

For example, on the WRX, the TurboXS UTEC uses it's own boost control solenoid.

See if there's an option to control some kind of third party electronic ECU. Or set one of those up, and tune the KS ROM ECU around it. Let the boost controller handle boost, and you simply tell the ECU the final numbers.

heres the stink part, it still does it with the standard
ECU in there so it cant be ecu related

could it be one of those boost solenoids(there are heaps of em),
a faulty wastegate actuator, fuel related

ive tried air flow meter, idle control solenoid, TPS, quite a few
boost solenoids. Its like the computer is retarding the timing
for some reason but yeah it does it still with the standard ecu so
any other suggestions

one more thing i dont use any type of boost controller
as its boosting quite enough on its own, i got an air/fuel
ratio gauge in there and its not leaning out so its quite hard to
solve, typical subaru

man. that thing sounds like it would kick ass. 12 psi on the first turbo and 18 on the second?? im runnin like 9 on one. LoL.

does it hesitate when you try to open it up? i mean when you floor it?

The problem with using factory boost control, is that the factory ECU can disable it, and stick to wastegate on the turbos.

That could very well be your problem.
