the heater in our 90 legacy has something wrong with it because when its off and you push the button for the defrosters the blower will work but the air doesn't come out anywhere . well until you hit the dash a couple times then it works. sometimes when i start the car the heater is dead, i can push all the buttons and nothing happens until i smack the dash then it will work. can somebody please tell me what it might be. :?:

I had the same problem in my 90 legacy LS wagon. I replaced the heater/AC/vent control assembly (the unit that you use to adjust the heat/ventilation etc.) This worked great for about 6 months then the blower went! I replced the blower motor and now all is working as it should.

I have had this problem happening with my '90... pounding the dash, etc. I took it all apart and tried several things to fix it, with no successful result other than taking the vent out and reaching in to wiggle the wires when it goes off. The '90 has a crummy design between the circuit boards and the output plug. They changed it for 91. I am in need of a properly-working '90 Legacy heater control unit (I will have a post in the marketplace). It has to be a '90, with the yellow plug on the back.
