Just what I need

Great. Thanks Grandfather.

I'm starting to get concerned about him driving. He said he hit someone in a parking lot today, which makes that 3 screw-ups he's done in 2 years. He backed into someone with his old Diamante, he bumped my XT backing out with his truck, and now this. He's only 66, but he's in worse shape than his age.

Yeah, I won't have to pay for any of it, but I will still have to do the brunt of the parts-replacing labor. On top of what you see in the pic, the passenger door doesn't want to open, and the turn signal is cracked.

Fucking great. I was hoping to enjoy a break from having to do car repair after I did Patti's strut mounts this weekend.

Be glad he's hitting someone in the parking lot as opposed hitting the headboard of his coffin.

I can understand your frustration however.

Sadly, if he has that many accidents, even though they may be minor, he needs to be off the road. As someone in law enforcement, I see too many old people still driving because the family does not want to be bad people and take away the car keys. But sadly, people like that account for almost as many accidents as younger people do.

I second that. My pops gave up driving when he couldn't feel the pedals anymore. He should've done it much sooner, but at least he was an attentive driver. States should re-evaluate people once an a while. Seniors, young'uns, infirm and geriatrics especially. Nobody want's to give up their freedom, but the statistics are there. Nobody wants to have a loved one die in a crash, especially if they could take out other innocent people too.

Believe me, I know.

If there is any man in this world who has a super-sensitive ego, it's him.

I saw him this morning before he left (he's only in Orlando for 1 week of the month), and all I said to him is he needs to be more careful, mentioning that this is his 3rd accident. He immediately tried to go on the defensive, but couldn't reply with anything.

I think I'm gonna have a talk with my grandmother about it. The thing is, I'm worried about her too. She rear-ended one of her employees with the CTS about a year and a half ago, and then turned right on red without looking and hit someone with the Z4 already.

She's in much better shape physically than he is, but she has had cataract surgery in one eye, and needs it in the other eye, if she hasn't gotten it already.

Looks nice

Very good Jake.

The thing is, I didn't want a turbo bumper :(

I ordered the parts last week, and they didn't come in until Thursday in order to be painted Friday, for me to put them on today. Grandpa needs the wagon Monday.

So I get to the body shop to pay for the parts, and:

1) They informed me that I have purchased the only 92-94 right front fender IN THE COUNTRY! And that only fender was dented  The body shop fixed the dent for me for free though.

2) The bumper was a turbo bumper. I didn't want it, and honestly I think it looks almost like a body kit now, and you all know my feelings on body kits  But with the tight schedule, I really didn't have a choice, so they just painted them for me and I put them on today.

On top of that fiasco, I learned last week that the 92-94 cars have their bumpers attached to the bumper beam with plastic clips, for God's sake! What garbage! That meant that I had to break the clips out in order to get the old bumper off. So I go to my local dealer and order the lucky-number 13 clips that I needed. Bless the guy's heart, he was new and very nice, but didn't know what he was looking at. He was looking at the 90-91 diagram, and 90-91's have bolts... So he ordered me 13 bolts, rush-ordered. My heart sunk when I got to the dealer yesterday, and just told him nicely that I'll just try to fab something. If he read between the lines, he would understand that I'm never going to that dealer again. I'm just going to drive the extra 10 miles from now on to the other one.

So yeah, I had to fab a way to attach the bumper to the beam, and look how I did it:

It wasn't too hard, I just had to bend the zip-ties at the end so they would stick up, and when I slid them through the left hole, they would poke out the right hole and I could pull them through and attach them.

I won't keep it like this forever, in fact I'm going to go to the other dealer and order the proper clips for it, and then when Grandpa goes back down to S. FL, just cut the zip-ties and put the clips in there.

I'm going to try to do a turbo front grill, so it looks a little less cheesy, and I need to put mudguards on it, and I also need to put a better right side fender liner on it, since the JY one I grabbed last week is kinda chewed up (it appears Blackbart has already come through with all that stuff too, thanks Frank!)

there also appears to be a complete lackage of pinstripe on the fender

Correct also. I'm taking care of that next week.

Well, I undid my ghetto work by putting the actual OEM clips in the bumper...

And I put the chrome molding on it...

The fog light covers fit, but they have nothing to mount to, since this is a nonturbo . I have to redo the fender liners soon, and when I do, I'm gonna fab up some kind of bracket behind them for the fog light covers to mount to. Then I should be done...

Why don't you just put fog lights in the holes for them..then it'll really look like a turbo :-P

Coz I don't wanna wire them up... ;) And I'll still have to fab something for them to mount to...

Well, I could send you a non-turbo bumper cover for your turbo one? LOL

And how did you get a turbo one? I have been looking for awhile.
