i have fmic, 16g turbo, fcd, mbc, and a three inch tbe. ive only hit 14's twice, on the same day, at a track that isnt nhra registered and may not time correctly. it took a few hours to get that time. bascily perfect reaction time and 6psi at the line with 16 psi in every gear.
since that day i have not been able to reproduce thoes results. a manual tranny would probaly help my goal but keepin my auto a tune will get me there. i have all the stuff. just weather or not im gonna use it is the question

I consider 14's to be slow. You need a better goal, like 13's.
16's (stock legacy) is civic and SUV slow.
edit: also, there's alot of power to be had with proper engine management.

A shitload of NOS will get you speed. Fry stuff too. Depends on how much you're willing to spend. Go for the swap. There's enough info here to do it.

I don't think your gonna be hitting 14's on the stock turbo if you have an auto.

In order to go faster, you must add lightness.

every pound counts. I'm not really the person to be saying anything though, as I've added an awic to my car(further inducing understeer and adding weight) and have plans to get my heavy stereo installed within the next month.
There's always the removal of interior pieces, but for me, I bought the car because it was comfortable and had "luxury" features. If I had wanted a fast light car, I'd have gotten an old impreza and done the ej22t swap.

Well...since my Legacy runs around 14.7 or so...this is what you need to do:
Intercooler, Bigger Turbo, FCD, MBC (duh!), 15-17psi (depending on Turbo) Good Clutch (ceramic) and be good at launching...

My car never had a standard clutch as long as I have owned it. Todd (-k-) built the car as it is now, and he put a kevlar clutch in it, but that didn't work too well as I had to change it less than a month after I bought the car, and he and I figured that the kevlar disc only had around 9,000 miles on it...so don't go kevlar! Subaru is not known for good clutches, and if you want good, positive lockup you will probably want a ceramic disc...the good news is that the disc will work fine with a stock pressure plate, so you can just get the disc, which is around $150. I would also recommend going to a lighter flywheel, as it is far easier on the transaxle with all the extra power...and it makes the car lots of fun to drive because it revs like a sportbike...
Lemme know if you have any other questions!

I am down to 15.2 best on 7 psi but this is with my wagon gutted down to 2800 lbs. I dynoed at about 160 whp on a Mustang Dyno.
I am using an 02 RS pressureplate, a HEAVY forester flywheel and a Kennedy carbotic 6 puck unsprung disc.
I may have been able to get to 14.99 with this setup but since I shattered 2nd gear, I am leary of shifting fast.
