I broke my 3rd gear. So I dropped the tranny and installed my old STi V4 unit from my Impreza. Unfortunately there seems to be a complication with the starters. My 2.5RS starter does not fit because the little nose bottoms out on the engine. The legacy turbo starter and the STi starter both fit but neither work. They only go click click click.

I've tested the starters on the bench and they do work. I've tested the power going to the starter and it's good. I can only think that the gear can't go out far enough on the starters and that's what's causing the problem?

Before I start messing with spacers does anyone have insight into my problem?

Problem has been solved. Just so happened there was enough play in the starter that it was hitting the flywheel. So I re-positioned it and bolted it down again presto-works again. Now I just need to re-do the intake piping to my VF24 and see what happens!
