does a STI intake manifold solve the IC fitment problem?

Has anybody tried putting a STI manifold on the EJ22T so that the wrx or sti intercooler fits without cutting anything?

I think you'd need the STi heads for it to fit.

The STi manifold bolts right up to wrx heads... I'm almost positive its the exact same thing. ( only red )

No, it's not.

STi's are drive-by-wire. Pre-06 WRX's are drive-by-cable.

Almost all WRX -> STi swaps use the stock WRX intake manifold, powder coated red. Or they use the STi manifold and make trouble for themselves.

You can't swap the throttle body, the bolt holes don't align in any way, shape, or form.

I know one of the STi ones is a direct bolt on! Probably the JDM 2.0

My bad though, I should have been more clear :)

Why go through all that jazz when you could just trim less than a quarter inch off the IC?

well i was just wondering, but you guys went over how the sti one is drive by wire and such, but in that case... a WRX one would work? or you need the heads? i just thought it would be an alternative to cutting the TB since it would free up space. dunno prolly wouldnt be worth the work unless you really wanted to do it right. thanks for the feedback. what about an OLD v1-4 sti intake manifold, (or whenever they still used teh 90 turbo inlet). just another thought.
