So, I picked up the touring wagon today... I wan't to clean the hell out of the motor, but I have heard there is a knock sensor under the cooling tank that is very sensitive to moisture. What have you guys done?

Thanks in advance 8)

Could SeaFoam it...that stuff smokes like hell but cleans up the engine well.

SeaFoam is an oil product (I think it's just a good bit of alcohol) that you put in your gas tank, intake, and/or crankcase oil. As far as I know, there aren't any sensors it effects but...

I just power wash mine. I don't ever cover up anything. By the same token, I don't spray the alternator for fun.

The knock sensor will throw a code while its wet but the engine heat will dry it out quickly then all is well. I've got mine wet just running water down the scoop washing the car and have washed the engine at the car wash... no lasting ill effects.

yeah, if you have a distributor (which you don't I'm sure) you need to cover that up, and probably the intake, but other than that, it was ok, when I did it.

Just give the car a little while to dry, and all is good :)
