Perfection Motorsports standalone ECU for EJ22T 5 speed.

Used less than 200 miles. Comes with ECU, serial port plug for PC, software, 60 tooth crank sprocket, air temp sensor, and cam and crank angle sensors.

Paid over $1400 for it all, will take $1000. It's just been hanging out on the shelf for too long.

Post, Pm, or email if you are interested.
Thanks. :-)

It was never installed? I can't afford it but I've been interested to know how well it works.

It was installed on my car for about 200 miles.

It worked fine, just didn't jive well with my auto trans in the wagon. This is a manual specific ECU. Never tuned it to the max though..

Hmm, I assume this is the Stage 1 ECU.

Few questions. How was this wired? Did you cut wires and install it like that? Or did you use connectors to install it? Where did you install the air temperature sensor?

I'd really like to get one of his ECU's but I'd feel kinda bad no buying directly from him, ya know.

Yes, it's the stage 1 ECU. It was wired into a different ECU plug with some unnecessary pinouts deleted. There were some connectors too.. Also needs an DIS-2 or similar for spark. The air temp sensor gets tapped into the TB. The cam and crank angle sensors go in the stock locations, as does the 60 tooth crank sprocket.

I understand if you want to go to Kelley, but this is a good deal for a barely used standalone..Think they have gone up since I got this one. At any rate, if you have any more questions. let me know.

Hey guys/gals,

If you're still wanting a standalone, I'll let this go for $1200 with a MSD DIS-2 included..

Year end clearance!

Post, PM or email if you're interested.

i have some trouble understanding what exactly didnt jive as our cars dont have much interaction between the tranny and ecu

There are little things that might be hard to grasp if you haven't installed one of these units on an auto..

I can assure that there are differences between the manual and auto cars..

1. The ECU is different beteween the two cars (not the main issue here)
2. The Tranny/ TCU picks up a signal from the MAF and TPS that establish the shift points (none on a manual). Those have to be repinned as part of the install for the standalone. Consequently the Auto tranny was freaking (wouldn't shift on its own or into OD) out with the standalone installed.
3. The IAC valve is also different between the manual and auto cars.

Didn't really want to do a 5 speed swap in that car at that point..

At any rate, as mentioned previously, this ECU is for a 5 speed car, not AT, and is still for sale.. :D

wait, the ej22t has a different ecu auto vs. manual? I thought there was the signal wire that identified the trans and the ecu's were the same.

thats what i thought too. it makes sense that maf signal and tps is involved but iac being different just doesnt make sense

I might be interested....depending on how the dyno goes on Friday.

One of the problems with a stand alone ecu and the 4eat tcu is that as the subaru tps opens for more throttle the voltage goes down. The SDS ecu works the other way.

The solution on my install was to have one tps for the throttle and ecu, with another for the tranny.

Must be the only one on the block with two throttle position sensors 8)

Keep us posted on how that dyno session goes.

This unit will be good for a few more ponies.. :)

Dyno session went like crap, we pulled the car off because it seemed like the ecu was really pissed off. One of the guys came out and checked the codes and one of the codes was ecm. He said the computer was for a 97 legacy so i guess i'm going to pull the numbers off of the computer and have the dealer look it up and see if it is the correct computer or not.

Dan - What kind of power did it make?

Barrett - I just might be interested.... It's a tough choice right now.

It made 136 whp at some small rpm (somewhere around 2500-3000) on the dyno dynamics before the fuel cut kicked in. It was bucking a lot as the turbo started winding up.

Legacy294,
Do you see any reason I couldn't modify this to a car that started life with a 1.8l?

Matt,

It should work on one with a 1.8L.. But it's on the way to Dan right now.. ;-)

Is that for your RS-S/C project? Been watching those posts..Love the S/Cs when they are working properly. POWER NOW!!
