Open deck vs Closed deck
I was under the impression that the turbo engines were closed deck?

Only the ej22t engine is closed deck, and overseas early ej20t engines. The new sti 2.5 liter is semi closed. Everything else is open.

So does "All Subaru engines are made using die-cast, open deck designs at this time." mean engines that are CURRENTLY being manufactured?

I would assume so.

Every engine in Subaru's lineup is open-deck except for the turbo 2.5's that are semi-closed deck.

The early EJ20s, like the EJ20G, the EJ22T and the EJ22G (22b) are the only closed deck Subaru engines.
In Sept of '96 the turbo 2.0L went to the EJ20K (open deck, version 3) and ran until Sept '98, when it went to the EJ207 (another open deck, version 5). SO on and so forth.
Then in '04 the USDM STI came with the EJ257 which is semi-closed deck. The new USDM Forester XT, Legacy GT, Legacy Outback XT and '06 wrx all have the EJ257 block also.
I heard the JDMs are going to the EJ257 too but I don't know if that's true or not.
What would that mean for WRC?
*edit typo*

My bad, I meant version 5, seriously. I must have just hit the wrong button while typing.
I didn't think the EJ207 was semi-closed deck though. I thought/think it was/is open deck.
Here's the site I was quoting from.

The JDM Forester had an EJ257. I know a guy that dumped one in an 02WRX. Made righteous power. 408whp on pump gas.
It was allllll top end though, just a fat turbo. The AVCS wasn't even hooked up.

Sorry, The new Legacy gt and WRX and so on, have the EJ255. The Sti is the only EJ257

Hmm, I thought it was the same block. What is different in the block? Is the EJ255 designation just because of the different tuning and heads or is it a whole different design?

Oh yeah sorry. same blocks. It is confusing, EJ257 and EJ255 same block maybe same heads.
The EJ207 is semi-closed
EJ205 open
