:x Okay, i'm going to rant about dealerships for a moment...

As some of you may know, i worked for a subaru dealership out here in Boone, NC. I worked in the parts department, and i was pretty happy, not only to be working with subaru, but to be moving up in the world. I was scheduled to move up to the sales floor next week, and headed for a raise in 2 months. Things were looking good. A couple of weeks ago, there was a blowout sale at the dealership, and some really shady big city salespeople came down to prey on the innocent and ignorant people of this small mountain town. All of the people that actually worked at the dealership wanted no part in the sale, so they stayed away from it as best they could. The sale was the worst sale in the history of the company (Dunn Automotive Group) and the owner was insanely pissed that the local sales team refused to help rob people of their money and sell them cars they couldn't afford. The whole dealership started fearing for their jobs, except me, because i've only been working there for a little over a month and had no part in whatever went on with everyone else. I'd been looking for a second job (emphasis on the word "Second") to make ends meet a little easier. Today, my boss asks me how the second job hunt is going, and i explain that i've not really been putting my whole effort into it, because i dont really enjoy working 7 days a week, and having my weekends off is kinda nice. He tells me that i better start looking a little harder, because my last day is Friday... FRIDAY? WTF? it's freaking tuesday. what kind of company gives 3 days notice? he explained that since there were 3 people in the parts department, and since I was the low man on the totem pole, when the owner came up, he wanted to know who was expendable in order to save in labor costs. this, i can understand. but one of the parts guys is leaving in the beginning of December when he graduates from App State. That's going to leave just my boss to work unless he can find someone else in 3 weeks.

I dont really know where i was going with this, i just mainly wanted to vent my frustration at having a good job with a fair amount of potential yanked out from under me without so much as a thanks for all your hard work.

allright... i'm done ranting. I'm going to go get good and drunk tonight though, i can guarantee that.

Only thing I can say is that it sucks. I have one piece of advice, go to work and do your best the last few days. I got a referral from my last job (4 days notice IBM sucks as well) because I worked hard on my last days. That was the second time I got laid off from IBM the first time I got laid off I had no notice and was escorted out of the office by security. That was department policy because we had access to systems and could do a lot of damage. They did the same thing to a guy who worked there for over 20 years. Yea companies can suck sometimes, well anymore most of the time if not all the time.

Suckage.

Lemme tell ya something. I started in college as a mechanical engineering major, ready to go for a career in the automotive industry. I started working at the Toyota dealership that I still work at now at the same time I started going to college...

Aside from the fact that I flopped horribly in engineering, I grew so tired of the bullshit that goes on in the automotive industry, just from working at my dealership, that I'm fairly certain that I don't want anything to do with it anymore. I still work at the dealer, just because it can pay the bills until I graduate from college.

I'm keeping cars as my hobby, and abandoning them as my career.

You and your Sublime quotages.

Man, that sucks bigtime. Its terrible that you must make a sacrifice for what sounds like standing behind your beliefs.

I promise you, though, there are large corporations out there who have heart, and do care about their employees. One day, you will find your dream job. If you can, move back here. I understand you're from the pnw?

Sorry to hear about your job. The owner will get his in the end. You can't screw people for too long without serious side effects.

We have a local dealer here in Williamsport called Kinley Subaru. It's the oldest Subaru dealer in the US. They have been steadily getting a bad reputation because their Parts department is flakey at best (I've ordered parts multiple times and they forgot to order them) and their head service tech is a bastard. They have had issues of not locking customers cars and the cars getting broke into ect.. They take no responsability. Anyways, there is another dealer, W&L Subaru, about 35 miles away. Everyone I know now goes there now, even though it's much less convenient.

Word is that Kinley Subaru is closing this month. When you shun the local Subaru community, you pay the price.

Rot in hell Kinley!

HAHAHA I know exactly who your talking about Matt! I met that guy when I picked up my Leggy from this nice old lady. We met there because she wanted to be safe and she said that she trusted Kinley's service department. It actually turns out that he was the one selling the car for her. He tried to screw me over because I told him that I wouldn't be able to pick it up for about 2 weeks. He was like well the next highest bidder said he has the cash in hand and can pick it up tomorrow. I said screw you, I will beat you with a crow bar if you do that. I actually didn't say that, but said something of that accord, so that he knew I was serious. Yea Kinley sucks. I hope they burn.

I kinda forgot the whole reason why I posted in my above rant.

I worked a company and there were 150 of us let go at a moments notice. I just got a promotion to another department and started training that day. We worked for about 1 hour and then they had a whole bunch of security let us out at the same time. Should have seen the looks on everyone's faces.

I got fired from a place when I was younger so I came back the next day and paintballed every "Big Wig's" vehicle. It looked like they were going to a Pink Floyd reunion concert when I was done.

I also used to help out at this shitty used car lot by fixing cars one year. One day the boss had to leave early and tells me that he will give me 20% of whatever I sell. So I bust my hump and I sell a lady a sweet camaro. Boss comes back the next say, gets her financed and she loves the car. I/m thinking I am going to get about $3,500.00 for the sale. HE pulls a dick move and trys to say he sold it to her. I promptly quit, called the cops and informed them he sells cars with known mechanical problems, and he beats his wife. THen I came bac in a few weeks with a special tool. (Valve stem remover attached to the end of a cordless drill) I pocketed every single valve stem from every single tire on that lot. I even put the caps back on so his retarded ass would wonder where the air came out.

The moral of the story........It does not pay to be drunk and horny. Oops wrong moral. The real moral is that you should fear your employees. CAuse we can fuck yo shit up!! Next time I am in Boone I will drive a Hyunadi through their front window. Do you have a Hyundai I can borrow?

Yeah you can have the accent. LOL

Yeah the deals are assholes. I went down to my local dealer today to get one of the bolts that attach the latteral links to the hub, and the guy in the parts department said that I would have to oreder the latteral links just to get the bolt!

As for loosing jobs I'm real good at that. I've been fiered from every job I've ever had. I guess that'll happen when you don't respect the people you work for or with.

I scared the last place that let me go by being happy about leaving. Two security morons followed me for a day. I was real obnoxious about making them. Why was I let go two months before the plant was to close anyway? They didn't like that I backed up my 'sexually explicit' book on their network. I got paid until the date I was supposed to leave and got fulll severance. It pays to keep people afraid of you, yet give them nothing to really pin on you. The book thing was obviously just their excuse to get rid of soomeone they probably thought would come back with a gun ... as if they're that fucking important that I'd waste my life on their useless asses.

Good luck finding another job. Try to keep a good attitude that things happen for a reason. If that place didn't close on me I'd probably still be there. Now it took me almost two years to find something that paid well, but now I'm making more that double what I made there, I don't work in a cubicle, and I already have a big raise coming and multiple job offers from other people I've worked with if necessary. Some people still appreciate hard work and brains.

I've only been fired once, and that was so the manager could hire her daughter in my place. I was kinda happy about it, I don't really need to work right now but the paycheck is nice when it comes to modding the car and taking the girl out. So I got a job at IBM that pays way better and I don't really do anything except study while im there.

On the dealership note, I hate those bastards. There is a place in Omaha called classic auto sales, which sells porsches and other crap. One of my friends and I stopped to take a look at the cars and the sales people started being dicks because we didnt use the "front" door. Anyway, they called the cops and told em we were threatening them with weapons and we got pulled over by 4 squad cars a block away. That was probably in 2000 and things have settled enough for them to get whats coming to them next time I'm in the area.

Wow. Who knew you all had a little g in ya?
You guys are ruthless, I love it. Lets have a national meet, get lit, and terrorize something. Greg can drive the accent thru a window, I'll bring the gas and matches. But everyone is responsible for bringing their own bdus and ski mask.

we have an enormous archaic lazer printer that we use. As soon as it kicks the bucket, we're taking it to our friend's cabin and putting a 50 cal through it.

I don't know why i posted this in here, i suppose just because it'd be cool, like this thread

Hey talk to your parts boss and tell him to keep you in mind when he's all alone in December.
Until then apply for unemployment, since it takes forever to get paid, you have good reason to get paid, You're laid off right?
I got unemployment for three weeks, and all that money didn't come from the taxpayers, but from the company that fired me!!
First and only time I got fired, got pissed my partner got fired for made up reasons, so Ishoved porta-potty poopy under the bosses rental car door handle....

Most people don't know that by law any large window in any business must be made out of special glass that shatters upon certain pressure being applied to it. Thye do this so if someone falls and hits the window it won't slice them but shatter instead and they just fall through it.

To break this glass very easily simply take a 5lb sledge and tap the window in any lower corner and the window will drop in millions of beads of glass.

(I used to do demo work)

by what law and where? your state law? federal law? local law in some small village in venezuela? when did this venezuelen law come into effect?

I've had lots of dealings with large, broken, storefront windows... all have broken into shards, not collapsed into a million little pieces like a car window...

It's code in FL and has been for a while now. I think you will find that pretty much all new business' will have the safety glass no matter where you go.

Word.
There is no law stating that businesses must have the special shatter-proof glass we're used to seeing in autos. In fact, its more expensive because of that coating, and its rarely used in structres --its just not cost effective

Every store front down at the local mall has safety glass. I know this for a fact. I know alot of bars and clubs use this glass too.
