Manifold rubbing thermostat
Hi all I have a bit of problem I am putting on a 91 turbo manifold on my 94 NA and the left manifold elbow is rubbing my thermostat and every time i try to tork the manifold I get a coolent leak do to the added pressure. Two options in my book get a half inch peace of steel and shim the manifold or shave some of the thermostat. If you have any another tricks up you sleves they would be most helpful.

Well just to give you an idea what is going to happen to my 94 NA legacy a complete turbo kit from a 91 legacy, intercooler from a dsm talon, next 460 injectors, apexi s-afc, turbo xs bov, and I sure forged pistons are right around the corner, then posibly I will be able to get my hands on a 16g, the beauty of custom work will be seen in this car!!! thats why I ask the previous question!
The thermostat housing isn't too thick. I'd consider shimming the manifold, which will affect where the turbo sits. You may need to shim the up-pipe at the turbo.
Or you could trim the exhaust manifold.
Or you could trim the exhaust manifold.

the bottom end in the EJ22T motor is strong enough to support 300 hp without needing forged pistons, assuming you invest in proper engine management, not shitty boost cut defenders and that mess.waldo320 wrote:Well just to give you an idea what is going to happen to my 94 NA legacy a complete turbo kit from a 91 legacy, intercooler from a dsm talon, next 460 injectors, apexi s-afc, turbo xs bov, and I sure forged pistons are right around the corner, then posibly I will be able to get my hands on a 16g, the beauty of custom work will be seen in this car!!! thats why I ask the previous question!
I suggest you start with the turbo block, else you'll run into problems down the road, regardless of how much money you throw at it.
