If the turbo's torque converter is slightly larger this would explain why they're different. Other then that, I have no idea why they would be different....or at least interchangable.

yeah i found a non turbo low mileage (82K) that previously had an auto tranny and was going to go get it. The engine is still in it. But now i am just going to order a new one and make sure it is the turbo style. I think i would rather get a new one than risk used anyways, as this will be the third time to pull up my motor. Am getting over this. Anyways, should i be replacing my T belt/water pump, anything else? and all that while i pull it up?

from experiance they are different, ne breaking mine is what started my whole engine swap. the turbo flex plate is slightly larger but buying one new only costs like $35 so you might as well be safe about it. BTW, when you sheer off your flexplate so the center part and that other metal disk that attaches to the crank bolts spins and the rest of the plate doesn't...it makes realy bad noises...
stupid electrical work...
