Two highway races tonight

Empty highway, middle of the night
Infiniti g45 or something
98-99 WRX
The infiniti destroyed me from a red light, I was pretty impressed. Ive never seen a big car move like that.
The WRX flew past me as I was cruising, and I was having none of that. Dropped into second (I was going about 60mph), floored it, caught up in a few seconds, and overtook him.
The dude wasnt impressed
So much fun

Dude..racing..not so good.
The Q45 is pushing either 6 or 8 cylinders...and as we all say "There's no replacement for displacement."

I imagine you meant G35. 3.5L V6, near 300hp. They are quick.
98-99 Impreza, not a WRX, right?

Definitely a 45.
Im pretty sure it was a WRX, although we didnt come to a stop together. It had a spoiler
Wasnt an STi tho (did they even make those for that gen?)

Empty highway, far from an urban center, at night

Who cares? Do it in a school zone at 8 AM. Make those damn fat kids jump. Those that don't make it are too slow. Darwin's law strikes again.

No such thing as a G45. Unless it was a swap, and that's unlikely.
I don't know about Canada, but the WRX was released in 2002 in the USA. A spoiler was standard in the Impreza in North America.
It could have been a swap or an imported car. And yes, there were STi's in that gen also.
If it was a WRX, and your car is stock, it would have whupped you. G35 would also whup you.

Phil was right, it was most likely a G35...Q45's are sedans.

At 6K in 2nd I'm at around 70, maybe 75
The Impreza wasnt from a standstill tho, I was cruising probably around 55 in 3rd, so I dropped into second to punch it up to 60 fast, then just kept my foot down, he dropped back before I got into 4th

Actually there is...it's called a Turbocharger
BTW...The Q45 is a 4.5 liter V8

all things beign equal more displacement with a turbo is still better than less displacement with a turbo.

Ok, let's take a stock SS and put it against my stock 3spd '77 vette. I think you'll be seeing rear bumper the whole way down the lane.

Then let's put the same SS against the same Vette on an autoX course and see who comes out on top
I thought I'd add something to this thread.
This is to the guy I saw racing on the highway in Orlando tonight: Just because you put bigger wheels on your VW Golf 2.sl0w, that doesn't mean you're going to be fast enough to beat a supercharged Mustang Cobra. I hate domestics, but I'm fairly certain that a 390-hp car will be faster than my 130-hp import. And I have stock wheels

The engine code on the infinity is VQ45 and there is a single kit readily available for this engine and there is talk of a twin turbo. The single turbo runs (2) FMIC's.

I wouldnt be surprised if the guy was running some sort of chip
It was a fairly old guy, but he had flash rims on it and such.
