Short Shifter for 95 Legacy?

Post by MikeC5 »

I removed the stock shift lever today and took some key measurements (see photo). The inner diameter where the shift lever bushings go in is about 17.07 mm and the steel sleeve that goes in the bushings measures 11.94 mm. The width at the linkage attach point (including the bushings) is about 24.77 mm. The ball outer diameter is about 26.16 mm. The diameter of the rod down to the shift ball is about 14 mm and the distance from the linkage attach center to the ball center is about 47 mm. From what I've read in my searches here, the critical items would seem to be the width at the shifter bushings and the ball diameter. Does anyone know if any of the Kartboy (and other) offerings would bolt in place of this lever?

You can check kartboy's website for application fitting.

If they don't list anything, you'll need to convert to the newer style shifter joint & linkage.

Yea nothing as far back as 95. I guess I see how it feels with all new bushings on the stock shifter first.

I got it back together today with a Kartboy rear bushing, Energy front bushing and new (stock) u-joint bushings. What a difference! It's very precise now. Throw is still a little longer than I'd like...
