transmission thunk?

Hello,
My 92 legacy front wheel drive (automatic) makes a thunk when changing gears. Just replaced the axles . It had the sound before the axles where replaced also. When in park it will roll several feet before it stops . I imagine the two are related. Any Ideas?
Thanks,
Mike

This is just a shot in the dark, but that almost sounds like the tranny/engine are squirming around in the mounts a lot. Maybe a bushing/engine/tranny mount issue?

This is also a long shot..but you might want to do the grounding mod. Search "DIY Grounding Mod." Doing this got rid of all my clunking.

Yeah....checking the engine & trans mounts would be a good thing to check.

If you happen to need a transmission mount, I have one I bought a while ago and never used. It's brand new too.
