1995 Legacy Drivetrain binding....

Hello all. We have a 95 Legacy LS wagon AWD that seems to have a drivetrain issue where it binds when you turn sharply like into a parking spot. You can hear, feel and see the back wheels jolt. Also, when coming to a stop or letting off the gas you can hear it thumping.
Has anyone ever had this happen before? Can't tell if it's the rear dif or the transfer case or something.

Torquebind.
Search it...it's an $800 fix. Just try to avoid driving sharply.

There's more to it then what manarius posted.
search and you'll find a lot of info.
First thing I would suggest is checking to make sure you have all the same size/brand tires and that they are properly inflated. Next insert a fuse in the FWD fuse holder and see if the binding goes away. If no, then the duty c solenoid is probably bad. If yes, then the duty c solenoid is probably ok.
I'd then recommend you change/flush the ATF. Then see if you still are getting binding. If yes, you can try putting some clutch type LSD additive in the ATF. If non of that works, the extension housing will have to be removed and clutch packs replaced and/or other work performed.

I think it's either a 10 or 15...just pop in a 20 and you'll be okay I think...
Come on Josh, jerking in slow turns is notoriously Torquebind. We all get it at some point.

It doesn't matter what amperage you use.
Manarius, there are many potential causes for torque bind. Josh is right to suggest preliminary checks.

I wasn't disagreeing that it wasn't torque bind. What I was saying is there's more that needs to be done then to immediately shell out $800 without checking things.

Oh, I wholeheartedly agree. Check the cheap stuff before you go to the expensive stuff.
