ok i have a Ver.II intercooler, running a stock VF11 turbo on a automatic car, how in the heck am i going to get it in. is there anyone else that has put this intercooler in with their stock turbo?

its hitting the A/Cline, and i dont really want to evac the system and swap out the line so is there any other way to make it fit?

Unbolt the dog-bone and stuff the line and harness under it. May have to move the ignitor, too.

Like he said, I unbolted the dog bone and shoved everything underneath without disconnecting anything. But, there are a variety of AC line configurations, so everybody has done something different.

I wrote a pretty freakin' detailed description of installing a WRX IC with a stock turbo, and kept it up to date as things evolved.

now by dogbone you mean the pitchstop that mounts from the firewall to the engine?

Yes.

so even though the a/c line bends upwards to a peak you can run it under the dogbone without any problems with the wiring and such to get it in there? sweet, now i just have to relocate the coolant tank, and make the inlet pipe fit my VF11 turbo instead of the TD04 it was working with.

Different Legacies have different A/C lines, I think there are two styles if I remember correctly. I think both styles should be able to bend down to work. This is the best pic I have of my setup in progress:

Sorry for my short answers but I'm multi-tasking.

ya see my A/C line actually bends upwards about 4 inches, then to a peak and then back down to strait over the engine compartment. i talked with a guy i know and he said he will give me the a/c line i need for free... i just need my system evacuated, swap the line, then retrofit it over from R12 to HFC143A

The turbo cars had the line that bends upwards.

The n/a cars had the line that goes straight across.

I'm using the line that goes straight across. It fits fine

It's just aluminium-bend it! I remember someone else having the same problem as you, and was planning on swapping over to the other style line, but I think he figured out a way to make it work. Have you searched? Maybe someone else can offer some advice?

Sorry, Josh replied as I was writing.

Hey, My SS has that same line. Sure it wasn't a model year thing?

My SS was another exception to the rule. It had the "straight across" line.

Iam installing the same intercooler, and yes,you can just push the a/c line under the dogbone/pitchstop. :D
