Motor is being weird...Still not working!!!!!! Help

My motor has been running a bit weird lately, in that it will run great sometimes, then start running on 3... I did some exploration today, and I tried unplugging plug wires, and the one closest to the drivers firewall (forgive me, don't know which cylinder is which) made no change at idle with and without spark. I went and smelled the tailpipe and it was smelling rich...which makes sense. I unplugged the injector for that cylinder, and the richness went away, car ran the same as it had before. I checked the connection of the plug wire to the spark plug, it looked fine, and the wires are not very old (~2 months). This is the same side that I replaced the fuel rail with 2 used injectors in December, as one was either not closing or leaking...so I just did the whole side. I doubt that it is a compression problem, because the car will lapse between running right and not while driving, and when it is running right it pulls as hard as it ever did. Sometimes it will buck and jump between running well and not.

So any ideas...

Also...sometimes when revved to 3000rpm and above the CEL will come on, and then go off when the rpms drop. I tried plugging the diagnostic connector in while keeping it above 3000rpm, and no codes were thrown.

So if you have any ideas I would greatly appreciate your input!!

could just be a fouled plug, maybe from that bad injector. drop a set in and see how it runs

Plugs were replaced post-injector fix

Swap plug wires. Easiest enough to do to test the plug wire on the cylinder in question.

I have burned through three sets of plug wires, all on #2 cylinder.

Ok...replaced plug wires...checked ignition system...spark is happening...

So... the progressively got worse, as in it would just stay running like crap most of yesterday. I thought it might be the same injector I replaced before, so I put a known good one in its place...then the car wouldn't start...and would make a few revolutions and then quit cranking...these are non-interference motors right?!?!?!

At any rate, I put the old injector back in, and now it cranks but won't start, which makes me think the timing belt jumped (it has done this before, with same nostart symptoms)...

Any (educated) input is welcomed.... :-)
