What is your take on using KYB gr-2 struts with stock springs? I don't want a harsh ride. But I wouldn't mind a little less body roll. I don't want stiffened/shortened springs, I'd like to keep my clearance. PLus I'm nearly broke

They're designed to work with stock springs. Go for it.

That was one of the first things I did to my TW, back so many years ago. There wasn't much of an aftermarket for Subaru, much less the Legacy, at that time. It's a pretty nice improvement, even with stock springs.

I think I'm going to get some. Only front for now, rears are new but unfortunately Munroes. I'll change them too but for a couple of months.
Recommendations for a place to order from? I'm near Toronto Ontario in Canada, and shipping is a bit more for me here.

Tire Rack has good prices and their shipping is also good.

Yeah....the GR2's with stock springs work very well.

I would hesitate on mixing strut brands between front and rear.
Since the dampening rate will be different between the front and rear it will cause the car to handle unevenly, negating any benefit of putting the GR-2's on.
Just save up for all 4.

Whole heartedly agree!
I had monroes on the front, kyb's on the rear. The car was quite tail happy. When I put KYB's on the front, the car handled much better!
