Hit and Run Holiday on the Mazda

Bastards! It looked like just a fender, but this pussy-ass car getting tagged by some dick in an SUV or truck actually results in about $2500 in damage. The Subaru would've 'needed' a fender and a sidemarker, but the Mazda needs a headlight unit, misc clips, driver's fender, and front bumper. All from a little hit and run whack to the fender ahead of the wheel. At least I only have to pay the deductible.

Old Legacy +50.

Steve

And I was psyched until then after seeing the quality of work that my publisher puts out ... well I'm still psyched about that at least.

I still have the Subaru. It needs to get warm on a day off so I can instal the motor mounts and have it sent to a custom exhaust shop to put it back on the road. I got the Mazda FOR the Subaru.

ahh!!! I see..... I see...

my subaru is down for a tranny swap right now, and like you, I'm waiting for a warm day to button it up... that's why I bought my legacy..

hopefully you can get the legacy back together soon and ditch that POS mazda ;-)

The plan is: get a house, finish the wagon, find and do up a '84 hardtop with an EJ22 and maybe rwd, then probably just use those cars everyday, selling the Mazda. My hope is for the next new (or nearly new) car to be an Elise. The Mazda's really not a bad car ... if they never built Subarus. Though a new Subaru would have been an expensive fix, too. It's just the nature of new cars and another reason I never wanted one (which is also why I spent as little as I possibly could).

yup.. I'm gonna drop an ej22t into my xt6 and get an old hatchback for an offroader... the wagon will be my DD still

An XT with an EJ22T would be sick. Odd cars, but neat. What color is it? Some look awesome and others look weird to me depending on the color and trim. A friend back in the day had a gray turbo that looked real nice. Shit some nice newer wheels ... hm ... no, I have too many cars on the list already, dammit!

mine is currently black... with grey primer spots all over it... hehe.. it will end up black again though.. it gets the hood from a turbo XT that I just picked up in PA a little while ago (hood scoop +1) and hopefully legacy GT rims... mmmmmmm

WTF? Did you get the license plate?

I agree though, I'd rather get hit in one of my cars than these new tin cans...

Wow... I did NOT just sound 65 years old...

I just came out and found it damaged, like WTMF! Sometiimes it doesn;t pay to park it in the middle of nowhere. At least I didn't get a scratch, though.

Yeah, this thing's all plastic underneath. The Subaru's built like a tank in comparison and my old GLs wouldn't have hardly noticed the hit. My friend's old Delta 88 from back in the day would've fucked up the car that hit it. Even the plastic bumper attachments in the Legacy are more substantial than the Mazda's (too thin to plastic weld). There's somthing to be said for largish panel gaps.

Oh man...my 240D was such a tank...I backed into people with it a few times, and I didn't even scratch the inch thick rubber strip on the bumper!!

Sucks to hear about the Mazda Steve. My brother slid his out and took out his driver's side door pretty good and some other stuff (the bumper on a previous incident) and I've been watching him get nickled and dimed for clips and brakets and shit. As you put it, Subaru +50. And screw the bastards that hit you, f'n assholes.

That's a shame too that the publisher didn't impress you, but it sounds like there's still progress being made there?

No, I AM impressed with the publisher! That was the bright part of the day until the car got hit. The book they just finished had a matt black finish with gloss for the comedy/tragedy theater masks displayed on the front. Looks like high quality trade you'd pick up at any bookstore and is exactly what I was hoping for.

One of the partners left, so I'm waiting for them to finish arbitration before I can get my contract.

I really want this thing out so I can get business cards about the book made since I come across people all the time that would probably buy a copy.

I'm thinking of getting the folded cards with the book's cover on the front, the ISBN on the back (so that it can be ordered anywhere), and a short summary on the inside. I'm thinking some variation of: 'An idealistic hitman, a pissed-off girlfriend, an aging queen, a hotrod Subaru, and a cult that wants to enslave the weak.'

I don't like my summary of the Diana character as just 'pissed-off girlfriend' since she drives the main character and is far more three-dimensional than that so that will likely change, but it does have the impact and length I'm looking for.

Okay, I just re-read the original post and once again I'm an idiot :).

But dude that's awesome new about the book. Like everyone else, I can't wait for my signed hard copy of it :).
