Okay, I've decided that I will put the WRX wheels that I purchased two years ago on my car. It probably doesn't make sense to most people since the car has been hit at least three times since moving to Vegas a year ago...and that's while it was parked on my property. I want to keep the car and I'm hoping this will help since it's really starting to fall apart. My question is, should I reuse the lugnuts from my original wheels or should I buy the closed ended ones? I did a search but I didn't get a definitive answer either way. Can you guys help me out?

I think you should use the acorn-style nuts. It'll help keep the elements away from the lug threads.

Or does it not rain in Vegas? Maybe it doesn't matter.

When I upgraded to my turbo rims I didn't get the acorn nuts, namely because I didn't have the money to spend on 20 new lugnuts. I still don't have any problems, though sometimes they are a little difficult to break loose. I plan to upgrade someday though.

And for the record, I do recommend the acorn style nuts.

I'm using my open ended lugnuts because I'm too cheap to spend $60 on new ones. It's like $12 for a pack of 4 at pep-boys. No problems after 2+ years.

Thanks for the replies guys. Vikash, it does rain here in Vegas but not very much. I don't think we'll be seeing any rain for a while. It's supposed to be winter but I can't tell. Anyway, Pep Boys is where I'm getting the tires from so maybe I'll pick up some lugnuts also.

Yeah, I guess moisture isn't too much of a concern for you then. They do also help keep dirt/dust/debris out too though.

You can often buy a used set of acorn lug nuts cheaply from a NASIOC member who's switched to aftermarket lugs.

I think I will get the acorn style lug nuts...eventually. Like I said, since the car is falling apart I don't want to sink too much money into it but I don't want to get rid of it either. I'm afraid of getting a new car here out of fear of it getting hit. Some of the people here are complete a$$holes when it comes to driving/parking. Just yesterday, my wife witnessed an elderly lady smash into a parked car at the post office. She actually was hooked to the other car but after freeing herself, she went on with her business. She was actually going to leave until my wife confronted her about it. She had gotten into her car and was trying to leave when the owner of the smashed car came out and my wife pointed out the culprit. Some of you may think that she's a butt for turning in an old lady but I told her to do it. My position is this, if you think you're responsible enough to drive, you're have a duty to take responsibility for ALL of your actions, good or bad. My car got hit when it was sitting in front of my apartment building. I own the apartment building and someone though it was okay to smash into my car and take off. If I find the idiot, and the law doesn't do anything about it, he's got a serious beat down coming his way. I really hate the world in which we live today. Sorry for being long-winded but I'm passionate when it comes to stuff like this.

A few months ago an old lady sideswiped a car at the House of Seven Gables and backed through a fence, then hit a wall, which destroyed her front end. She still tried to drive away with the wheels of her Neon pointed in different directions. She seemed to have no idea what she did when she was confronted and was shocked when she saw the damage, even trying to claim the fence must've already been like that!

I think old people should be continually retested for sight and cognisance.

I fully agree with you on that one. I have nothing against elderly people; my parents are in their sixties. I just feel that some of them should not drive.

I just think they should be tested. Stirling Moss can still outdrive my ass.

All I can say is WOW!!! I had no idea my car would look this good with the WRX rims on it. And my car has become a beat up POS since moving to Vegas. I think I will rip open the door today and see if I can fix the lock problem. Thanks again for all the replies.
