i just had to get that out there so i dont get flamed.

but i street raced another ss the other day. the guy doesnt come here at all and was kinda illeritate when it came to the car. said "its gonna look just like an sti when its done. you wont be able to tell the difference when im done becides teh head and tail lights" paid 6k for it 2 years ago, has a 5speed and somehow blew 1st 3 times already. car is stock save lgt wheels and weight loss due to rs seats front and back and a k&n filter. he bought a blowoff valve to gain horsepower and is somehow getting a full front mout kit built for him for 200 dollars, yet its quite un belibeable since he also said, "subaru has to custom machine first gear every time i blow it" and "i cant use 91 gears because their different" not to mention "it costs me 125 for just first gear" folowed by "im sick of blowing gears im either getting one made of titanium or carbon fiber, so that will be about 250 a gear" ugghhh that guy pissed me off.

but thats not why im posting this. the point is, i coudnt beat him in fablous fashion that im used to. his car was stock, not even an exhaust but at 15psi on my 16g i could only put him at my rear bumper before we had to shutdown. i couldnt take him off the line because of my auto but still. it pissed me off.

so either my car has low compression in one piston though it still feels good, doesnt burn oil, or any of the worry items. or weight is the cruel mistress. he probaly weighed 180 tops soaking wet, and his passenger only 90-110 tops. myself and my passenger are about 220 each, plus my car is full of stuff (clothes, trash, tools, tire, bottlerockets) with 1 stock front seat and stock rear seats.

time for a new turbo i guess. that and a 5speed with a gc shell.

I'd put your car on a diet and lose the passenger... then see what happens

Hell, when he says he is upgrading to Ceramic gears, then be afraid!

If he was looking for new kinds of gears, he could get a wrx tranny with glass gears.

seems like you should have killed him off the line. brake stand on turbo car=boost off the line, no?
I hate talking cars with people like that, no freakin clue.

15 pounds of boost that night man. seriously.

oh and yes i did brake stand. the light didnt go green when it was suposed to and we ran it. my brakes wont hold stands anymore. i need new ones. on that race, i kept up with him off the line but he didnt launch. i started pulling on him at 4k but as ever i got a little ahead and had to shut it down.

maybe he already had his titanium gears installed.

I never had that problem when my car was running right. Usually it was out the other side of the intersection before the other car started. I remember racing a late 90's z28 camaro and my friend in his mustang GT. The camaro was at the light and my friend in the mustang was ahead of us and took the right lane, so we took the right turn lane. When the light turned green we were out the other side of the intersection and well ahead of both cars. Then I slowed down and the camaro did the ricer flyby a few seconds later. I think what you need is a manual transmission.

with the price of dog gears as high as it is, imagine how much ti would cost! 5000 per gear...

Oh, I thought you made a typo. Ti would SUCK for gears though.

This is further proof that, in un-modified form, the Automatic is slower than the manual.

And you vultures, another 16G might be for sale in the next few months....

heh, good old brake stand . I don't think our cars like passengers, definetly a noticable slowdown.
