Codes 11 and 13

My car started throwing a code 11. It runs like a bag of crap, if you give it any amount of gas it dies. Idle is stuck at 3000 RPM. Previous owners have rewired it and it's a mess. It's also my beater so I'm hoping to make it through the winter.

So I pulled the cam sensor out. It's fairly beat up. So I pulled the sensor from my STi engine and wired it in. Same problem. Since it's necessary to start I got the car idling then unplugged the sensor and put it on the scope. The waveform looks nice and clean with either sensor. So I don't think the sensor is at fault.

When the sensor is plugged into the ECU the waveform goes all to hell with spikes everywhere and random crap.

Now it started throwing a code 13 as well. I wonder if anyone has ever put the signals on a scope and looked at them? I'm just not sure if the filtering and impedance of the ECU is just making the cam signal look whacky or if it's really a problem.

I'd like to replace the cam and crank wires. Bummer that they go through the firewall by the turbo and under the dash. I'll find a way to wire the scope to the crank signal and look at it first...

Has anyone seen a faulty crank sensor throw a cam error?
Are there any other suggestions besides explosives?

Are you looking at the outputs from the crank & cam sensors with a scope?

Yes I am looking at the crank and cam sensor outputs with a scope. I believe the sensors are good but the ECU doesn't. The wiring has been hacked up so there is no way to plug in a subaru scan tool...

You could probably wire something up to hook things up.

I've given up. Ripping the engine out this weekend. I've got an STi V4 engine sitting here so I'll drop that in for now and wire it up with one of my standalones.
