Hi all in need to put some new calipers on the frot of my 94 NA w/ 14" wheels. Trying to find a rebuild kit for the front and I cant find the pistons anywhere, I have tried autozone, advanced auto, napa, federated. The subaru dealer want 59$ for one piston were as I could buy the whole caliper for 52$ at a parts store. I can find the gasket set no problem, but im not leaking fluid my caliper they are frozen so I am think I need the new piston and gasket kit. First question could I just clean the piston and reuse it? Where can I find a piston ?

if you can just get a new caliper for $52 at a parts store, why not just get it? It's not that much, plus I'd imagine that you get a 1 year or 3 month warranty on it, as well as the added assurance that whoever rebuilt it does it for a living so they're probably better at it than you.

Guess that's the parts store employee in me talking

Have you tried subarugenuineparts.com? In the OEM catalog you can find caliper pistons under: Breaks -> Hydraulic system -> Front breaks -> Caliper piston ($42.93)

generally when you're looking for a "rebuild kit" they're going to give you the seals. the pistons are the expensive part and considering it's an N/A, just spend the $52 for the new caliper and call it a day.

I would agree. If it was just the seals, it would be worthwhile to just rebuild it, but if the piston's busted......

On a side note, I have a caliper rebuild kit sitting around and it has pretty much everything I need in it. Even better, I have the FSM with a very detailed section in it about rebuilding Turbo brake calipers.

I am planning on doing this next week. Does anyone want me to take pictures?
