Yah I know that summit racing offers a unothrodox crank pulley that works great on my 94 NA!

I don't want to sound negative at all but make sure you don't drop big cash into an underdrive pulley. The amount of gain that some of my friends have gotten on their tuners wasn't worth the $150 they spent. If you can find a cheap one I would do it.
Not 100% sure but I would think you would be better suited to go with a lightened flywheel. Anyone have any thoughts?

I had a GFB underdriven LW pulley but I removed it.....because I also run an ACT Streetlite flywheel and I'd rather keep it.
I sold the pulley to a guy locally that has a 4eat (can't get the FW) and he loves it and said he noticed better performance.

I second the ACT Streetlite flywheel - I've got one, and I'd rather leave my pulleys as the Subaru overengineers intended. Great flywheel. Cheap and easy if you're already replacing a clutch. (not to say the clutch replacement is easy, but while you're in there...)

I'm running a Cobb lightweight, but non-underdriven pulley along with an Exedy lightweight flywheel (also via Cobb). No problems on my heavy car, just the occasional stall.

WISH I HAD A 5 SPEED !!!!
Know anyone that does? This car is strictly set up for a 1/4 mile oval track in my home town. Which is not a large suby market place .....trying to teach them!! So if anyone has the parts for a 5 speed swap please let me know.
Glad to hear the UD pulleys are good for the 4eat trans tho
Thanks for ALL the good input!

Judging by your SN you have a FWD Legacy L, Correct?

Get the EBAY $22.99 version. Its the same as all the other ebay no-name brands, just the cheapest in cost.
I just got another one for $22.99 plus $14.99 shipping.

i have heard that you can have frequent miss fires, because of light weight flywheels and underdrive pullies. is this true?

No misfires here with my flywheel.

i have a Perrin lightweight crank pully, i wouldn't reccomend a underdrive pully for anyone unless the car is for racing and such since the underdrive pully will not spin the p/s and alt as fast, meaning less output from the alt, and less pressure from the p/s unless its at HIGH rpms, just MHO

Yes that would be correct.......the class I drive it in is a fwd only class no awd. It does well considering they let V-6 fwds sneak in there!

are you telling me they dont have a restriction on cylinders...why do they let 4 cylinders race with 6 cylinder cars? and the whole pulley issue....there all the same, the underdrive might reduce PS and ALT a little bit but i wouldnt know. dont over-pay for a name brand, they all weight the same amount, unless they are non-underdrive...then they weight 0.2 lbs more...whoopdy doo. like you'd notice anyways.

What circuit is that? I would like to try something like that!
You can probably find a cheap manual FWD tranny at any bone yard. They all held up pretty good. I would check out the sticky 5 speed swap thread in the tranny or drivetrain section. You might be able to get an idea of what you have to do...if I was to buy from a bone yard I would get everything around that you need first and then get the tranny. Then you can install quickly and take it back if there is something wrong with it. Or there always is Autotrader.com. I have found a lot of legacy L's on there with manuals. You can probably pick up a Legacy L with 150K on it for about $900-$1200. Then you can go test drive it to see if it works. That way you would also have everything you need for the swap. I would put a nice clutch in it if I were going to be ripping around a track though...even with a stock clutch in my 91 NA (with 60K on it) the clutch slips a bit when I get into the gas hard.

yes they allow V-6 fwd to run in this .......... although they can't seem to keep up. they weigh to much for a 1/4 banked oval and seem to have problems with the front right side holding up. Ive only raced 4 races and hit the podium in all but 1 .........ball-joint failed

yes we race against V-6 fwd cars, although they can't seem to keep up. they are to heavy for a 1/4 mile banked oval and the right front side ( tires and brakes ) dont hold up. I have raced the car in 4 races and only missed the podium once ........ ball joint failed

not a circuit just a local track most of the local tracks here are starting them to gain more interest in the sport. If you decide to do this be aware that all tracks have different rules ! In my case not all the local tracks allow me to race because the suby is not an American car!
Yes I have been looking for a 5 speed fwd complete around here there just hard too find! If you find 1 in you area for around 500 that is drivable ( transportation is to expensive) let me know
Thanks

I'll keep my eyes open for one man.
Do you know if it makes a difference (to the tracks rules) if the car is an American company or made in America. My 91 is a strict import right off the boat whereas my 93 is manufactured in the US. Like I know if you wanna drag race at my local track in the import u can use a chevy that was built in canada. Crazy rules. I saw a guy out racing a auto chevy truck SS 4wd (with the nice traction control) out doing braket racing against hondas and toyotas. Needless to say he took the event. Put your foot down in 4wd with an auto...makes for good consistant timing. HEHEHE
