EJ20T in a 91 legacy

Hey guys, I just found an EJ20T that I'm thinking about buying.

I have a few questions about installing it in my 91 L

If the engine code is EJ20T does that necessarily mean that it is a closed deck turbo block?

Can I use my cooling system (radiator) with this block as is or do I need to get a larger radiator from a turbo legacy?

What electronics do you need to make the EJ20T work? I am sure I will need the harness off of a turbo legacy correct? Do you need the original ECM from an EJ20T or will an ECM from an EJ22T/EJ25T legacy work?

What upgrades need to be done to the fuel system to supply this engine (I dought the NA fuel pump will work with this)?

Any info would be helpful! I need to start destroying some dodge neons - THEY'RE LIKE MOSQUITOS AROUND HERE!

when u say ej20T which one are u talking about? it would be best to know from what year and model the car is from. there is the ej20T's from the JDM legacy's/impreza's and the USDM WRX's. im assuming your talking about the JDM legacy one.

because it says ej20t doesnt mean it is closed deck. some of the JDM WRX's were open deck. and so are the USDM WRX's i believe.

you should be able to use your cooling system... there was a lot of debate on that but i am running a turbo'd motor with my N/A radiator.

for the electronics if ur doing a straight up swap, i would say get all the harness/ecu/sensors crap from the same model/year car u got the engine from.

yea you should change the fuel pump to one of the stock turbo ones or get a walbro and call it a day.

o yea i almost forgot, since ur car is an N/A u will have to get a turbo crossmember as well. very important!

The engine is a JDM but the guys that sell them all get them direct from Japan and can't ever tell what model or year they come out of. Is there any identifying marks on the block that would indicate this?

Thanks for the help!

easiest way to tell, if the intercooler is silver it's from a 89-90, if it's black it's from a 91-93. That of course assumes it has been kept with the car the whole time. check out www.rslibertyclub.org They deal with that motor. Great forum. and also check out http://www.driftquebec.com/legacy/1992_legacy.pdf
it is the subaru maitanance file for the engine with wiring diagrams.
Hope that helps.

also, if u can get a look at the turbo "identification" numbers such as vf10, vf12, vf8 u can probably find out if it was an auto or manual one as well. and if it is one of those, then thats most likely from the JDM liberty/legacy.
