My silver SS is no more...

I was in a pretty good accident today. A lady pulled out in front of me on Rt. 87 in Montoursville. The car is totalled. It's totally fubar'd. I hit a bunch of cinderblocks, spun around and hit a mailbox, coming to rest in somebody's front yard. The rear axle lay in pieces, both tires were flattened on the right side, the driver's side door was smashed. I post a pic soon. I'm totally bummed right now. I cut my head and I was bleeding pretty good but it turned out to be a small cut. :( :(

So now I'm left with my black SS...well at least I have something. :(

It totally sucks. Scott's head is all scraped up too. He's a tough 'ol sum-bitch though.

I'm still in shock that that happened to you Scott. People around here need to pull their heads out of their collective asses. It's ridiculous how bad the drivers are around here.

Scott, I'm really sorry to hear it. I'm glad you're ok, that was a beautiful car but the important part is you're ok. Thank you Subaru. Also, the lady should be thanking you for your quick reaction, I know how that's like.

I 2nd Matt's statement, the drivers around here really suck.

I don't want to ask but do at the same time, do you think we can part out what's left? IIRC the car didn't have a lot of miles and when I saw it I knew you were going to take good care of it. It'd be a shame to let it sit in a salvage yard somewhere.

Please tell me she herself sustained similar injuries or at least got her car totalled...

:( I shouldn't feel like that, but I can't help it. I hate seeing people get away with stupidity.

Sorry to hear there's one less SS on the road, and glad to hear you're still in one piece Scott.

That sucks man. I remember when my first Legacy was totalled. It was sad, but I was bitter sweet because she did such a great job at protecting us. The Leg was totally FUBARed, but me and my three friends just shook it off and walked away without a scratch. Meanwhile, the old lady that ran a red light and T-boned us with her big Oldsmobile went away in an ambulance.

Yeah, she has insurance. She tried to say she wasn't on the road but the officer didn't believe her.

I'm going to go up here today and take out the intake tract and whatever else I can take. As far as the engine goes we'll have to see what my insurance company says. I would like to get the engine out and put it in my black car, but if I can't I'll see what I can pull.

At least she has insurance. That stinks that she tried to lie to the cops. Sunds like she's going to be a handful. hopefully the rest of your dealings with her will be better.

Not trying to be a vulture or an oportunist, but was it a 5mt? and how was it?

No, it was an auto, sorry.

My understanding is that insurance companies are often willing to sell you back the car so they don't have to find another buyer or auction it off.

I think you should try to deal directly with her insurance company and not at all with her. You already know she's behaved irresponsibly and lied to a cop rather than fessin' up.

oh sorry to hear about the misfortune. Good thing is you are okay, these cars are pretty darn safe, and this is further proof.
its a sad day to see another one go down.

Wow Scott! At least you are alright! That's a very unfortunate thing to have happen. That car was so beautiful too!

I'm glad you are alright, and that her insurance will at least see you a little compensation for your loss. I know money can't replace the love for a Legacy, but it can help build a new one.

<-------- pours one out for a fallen scooby

Sucks that it all had to happen. Glad to hear that you're alright. Hopefully you'll be able to sue her insurance company for your suffering.

BTW - head wounds naturally bleed alot, there are a shitload of blood vessels there. I've seen a stab wound that didn't bleed as much as a 1" scrape across someone's face.

They've told me it will most likely be a total loss. I had a taped conversation with the liability guy yesterday...that was weird. So...assuming they give a fair amount back what should I do.

1. Buy the car back as a salvage and begin swapping parts over.
2. Buy the car back as salvage and sell parts (self defeating unless I get it back at a reasonable cost)
3. Don't buy the car back and use the money to get another car.
4. Don't buy the car back and use the money to fix Majen.

It really comes down to how much they are going to give me. I got it for book value and the loan was for book value. Fortunately, I paid the loan almost completely off so it won't take a huge chunk out the money I get back. I don't know what I'll do at this point.

That makes me want to cry :(

She was found at fault, right?
