I have been wondering this for the past few days. Does it have individual characters like our keyboards, is it just the same but with words spelt in japanese?

That would be almost impossible. There are several different japanese languages, each with several thousand characters. I guess there could be a kanji keyboard, with the sounds on the keys. Then you'd just phonetically spell everything.
You'd have to walk across the room 6 times and use a stick to type a sentance.

hardest to speak I think because of all the different sounds that can come from the same set of letters
japanese isnt that difficult, I picked it up pretty well in middle school but of course by now I have forget everything except DAME DESU NEEE!! thats what i heard the most from the teach.

I actually believe it's the syntax and grammar that makes English the most difficult language to learn, not necessarily the sounds (as there are generalized rules to that, like there is for other languages).
Sentence structure in the English language is unlike anywhere else in the world.
