I suspect that Subaru Styles will be wanting the heads and intake. The TMIC, the block, the coolant resivour thingy, and the turboes will be up for sale.

I don't know what I want yet, as I have just started to tear it apart and don't know the condition of everything.

I am keeping the oil cooler.

I was not aware there was a Twin Turbo in 91.

Well, it was sold as a 91, and it most definately has twin turboes....

hey doug where is the coolant resivoir on that? I am looking for the water pipe that runs from the water pump over to the passenger side of the engine for the coolant tank, to replace the one on my 22t that runs back to where the stock legacy tank is. Mine is kinda hack with a long piece of hose and I am trying to cleans some things up.

Torn down.

The block is dirty (what do you expect?), but in AMAZING condition. The cylinder walls look new. There are NO (ok, maybe you will find something) scratches in the walls. The honing looks like it is new. The block comes with the oil pump, NO leaks from the front main seal. The rear main seal has crap around it, but it looks like clutch dust mixed with oil, not drippy oil. Best of all the block comes WITH the stock 1991 oil cooler and oil cooler water pump (water goes from the water pump to the oil cooler (where the oil filter is) and then is returned to the coolant system.

I will post pictures soon.

$350 picked up. Shipping may be available.

why did you tear it down?
I'm looking for a long block if you know of one. I have a new 2.2 N/A short block for partial trade.

I tore it down because all the externals (turboes, ac compressor, alternator and so on) were looking pretty nasty. The exhaust and up pipes are in the dumpster as we speak. One turbo is in OK shape, the other is ?. Alternator is going to be an emergency alternator on my shelf. The AC compressor may or not be good. The powersteering pump is OK, the metal resevoir is ok except for the lid area which has been bent and needs some love.

Yeah, after I asked I realized you probably tore it down cause you were uncertain of the condition inside.

I'm actually looking for two longblocks, one for another project I'm wrapping up and one for a spare.
It wouldn't hurt to have a spare longblock on the truck
Car 424 is done and runs good, Last Saturday, I took it on a 60 mile, gravel shake down. Might take it for a spin this morning

I think this is not a 91, but rather a 96-97. The chassis code is a BG5. The ticket attached to the motor said 1991.

I thought so.

What is the engine code?
Is it a EJ20H or EJ20R?
If it had a metal HG it might be a "R"

There is an "R" on the front of the block....

The block could be as old as 1993, as they had the twin turbo version then as well.
