MAF after the turbo

so do you think that i could put my MAF after my turbo. it would still be reading the same amount of air flow. in my opinion it would be more accurate. and just hook up a filter before the turbo.. call me crazy but i think that it could work.

what do ya think


FYI i have a front mount. nearly just like doug vincent's just i have a turbo. well i almost have a front mount. i just cant get the dame bumper on. bring out the cutting wheel.

The problem is that the MAF also reads intake air temp. You put it after the turbo, it reads hot air, and pulls back timing. Tuners have played with post turbo MAFs for years. Usually you would use two MAFs. One pre turbo, and only use the temp sensor, and then post for flow.

Its really only necessary for very large, high flowing turbos with cams and large displacement. It doesnt always work. Theres some actuall fluid dynamics involved that not all tuners can afford.

Its cheaper to switch to a speed density type fuel system, and get rid of the MAF alltogether.

If you are FMIC, then you can stick the MAF after the intercooler.....

Nope, not on our cars. Temperature is measured only to compute airflow, and never leaves the sensor.

Nope, not on our cars. Temperature is measured only to compute airflow, and never leaves the sensor.
and that is the beauty of MAF based systems :)
