Main and cam seals installed further in?

Just a quick question. It took me a while to tap the main and cam seals in and I noticed that its a bit further in then when the old ones were sitting somewhat flush with the face of the engine block. Does it matter if the seals are in a bit? I put a tad bit of rtv just for extra measure.
Thanks~

I think it does matter. When I changed out mine, the first one I put in, I put in further than the one I took out was. Then I remembered the manual said drive it in as far as the one you took out was in. If you look inside the bore you can see a drain hole. If you put the seal in to far the hole is blocked. That is my opinion, could be wrong, but looking in there it made sense.

That rtv might make the seal pop out.

yep, there is a drain hole in there, if the crank seal sits too far back it can block the hole, RTV can do the same so I wouldn't use it there.
