I am thinking of going with a Megan Racing WRX downpipe for my Leg. Anyone run one of these? The price is good and it looks nice, but I'm curious if down the road it will crack. I've heard good things about Megan headers but I've heard their turbo manifolds crack. The other option is a RS-R downpipe but the price is triple the Megan. I looked at a HKS one and it looked brutal.

I have a megan 3in SS DP on my outback. I have had it on for a year and half with no problems at all. Great down pipe for the price.

^^ Thats cool, its a fair bit of work to changeout the downpipe so I wanted to make sure the Megan would be alright before bolting it on.

its what ive got sitting around waiting for the fabrication of an extension. looks decent enough quality to me for the price.
It physicaly fits and bolts to the turbo no problem. Though the rest of the system is another story as you can see below.

Yeah I have the megan DP and an STi cat back also. I just bolted the DP, hung the axle back then drove to the exhuast shop and had the extend the mid pipe. They charged $50, not bad price. Fun drive to the shop with just a DP

hahaha ive been thinking about doing that but knowning me i would never get the rest of the system back in...
All the shops around here say they cant do it from the pictures ive shown them. Any suggestions of where to buy flanges so i can weld my own, cause i really dont care how it looks as it will never be seen.

If you are loo0king for regular flanges any exhaust shop will have em. If you need stainless steel any Vibrant dealer can get em for ya.

The megan DP I have was made to bolt to the wrx or STi cat back. I mounted the catback already. So the shop just cut the flange off the mid-pipe and just extended the mid pipe to the DP.

FYI my Megan Racing downpipe has cracked at the flange to the turbo. Throwing it away and getting a B&B twindump

Moral of the story seems to be you get what you pay for...
here are pics of the crack if anyone cares. I threw a crappy bead of flux-core MIG on it untill i get a new one. Flux-core gasless MIG + SS pipe = FTL

Looks like they TIGed it using silica bronze on SS. Either that or some other form of mild steal filler wire.
Thanks for the heads up. I think i will go with my first thought and just build my own.

Threshld1, any chance you still have your Megan DP???
I'd be willing to take it off your hands. It would help me greatly in lining everything up in my engine bay once I pick up a Suburu turbo to replace the T3/T4 I'll be parting with.
