So I get a haircut tonight and I forgot to lock my car. It wasn't a huge deal since it was parked out in front of the haricut place and under a street light, but when I got back to my car somone had obviously gone through it. My glove box was open and all the junk in there was all in the front seat. Also, the center console was open and some stuff that was in there was now in my glove box and on the passenger front seat. Nothing of any worth was taken. My registration and insurance paperwork was still there. All my reciepts seemed to be there. My garage door opener was there along with my cds and cd player. The only thing that could have been taken was possibly a plastic AAA key. I don't even know if it was for my car or if it was in my car or not, but one might have been. Maybe the guy got scared off or was looking for money. I'm not really sure, but if he has a key to my car I'm not too happy about it. Hopefully my car won't get stolen anytime soon.

That's why I don't leave my car unlocked unless it's in my sight.

well make sure it is locked. Locking my car is a fluid motion for me. It's habitual, and whenever I close the door I always double check to make sure it locked once the door is closed. For whatever reason I failed to do it last night.

Man, that sucks. I'm glad you didn't lose anything valuable, other than the potential AAA key. Changing lock cylinders is a relatively easy job though...

Yeah, I always make sure my car's locked in less it's in front of my house and I'm messing with it

I like to leave my car unlocked and arm the alarm when I have my car parked nearby. That way if someone opens one of the doors, i know about it right away.

yeah my car hasn't locked in months... that's not "hasn't been locked" that's "hasn't locked"
I leave my tools and stuff in there constantly...
guess maybe I'm asking to get robbed, but my car is so full of trash most of the time that people must think there isn't anything of any value in there

Where I am now I lock my car even if I'm just going inside for a minute or two. Back home in Baltimore, though, my neighborhood was safe enough that I only locked my car when I wasn't going anywhere for a while.

I have had my vans opened up a time or two by criminals. Everytime you can tell they looked about and walked, too much junk!

Someone got into my trunk when I was parked at my GFs house the other night
Didnt take my stereo or anything
My guess is it was some crackhead looking for easy money. Carrying around a 30 lbs sub box all night just isnt worth it.

I dunno, depends on the crackhead. Yours just wasn't as determined as some.

I quit locking my cars.
1 $14 Targa AM/FM cassette radio + (1 guy wants cassette radio + one realy big rock) = $257 damamge to my car.
Took out the drivers window. the trim peice on top of the doorsill. the passenger door panel, window rolling handle, and messed up the passenger seat.
If someone wants my damn radio. Id rather not have to replace windows/other components as well.
