you can get metal matrix high flow 3" cats from dynatech for $170.

http://www.secureperformanceorder.com/d ... uctID=6946

has a nice graph that illustrates the flow rate of a OEM cat, a ceramic high flow cat and the dynatech powercat.

however they do have the offroad/competition use only disclaimer:

Not legal for sale or use in the state of California, nor in states which have
adoptedCalifornia emission standards.

I wonder if they actually do anything to reduce nitrogen oxide, carbon monoxide, and/or hydrocarbon emissions.

The offroad disclaimer might have to do with people using them specifically as a high performance cat. I know that in some states, you must have so many miles on the vehicle before you can replace the catalyst, or something to that effect. Perhaps they're inserting the disclaimer to avoid any legal issues that may arise if they market it as a replacement. I don't think that most off-road motorsports bodies require cats on anything other than stock classes, if even then.

Rally America requires a functional cat on all rally cars. and they check them before and during the rally.
