Hey fellas, I am looking to replace the timing belt on my J-spec EJ20T. I haven't had any luck finding a part number for it though. Also, if any of you know any tricks to changing this belt I would appreciate the knowledge. Thanks,

Tim

correct me in im wrong, but i think subaru has only made a few timing belts. EJ SOHC series, DOHC series, and then the 2.5 STI belts. if you have a EJ20t, you should be fine with just a wrx dohc timing belt. like 75 bucks at the dealer

Yes any DOHC timing belt should work.
Changing a DOHC timing belt is no fun.
Especially when the engine is still in the car.

When you pull the tensioner, use a vice and compress it VERY slowly, until you can slip a pin(small allen works) through the little hole.

ALSO Important: The #2 and #4 head. When lining up the marks. Be sure to only turn the intake cam clockwise. and the exhaust conterclockwise.

A tip, it may be helpfull to use some small clamps to hold the belt on the pullies that you already have lined up. I use litttle spring clamps.

Thanks for the replies guys. Luckily the engine is out of the car for this change. Has anyone done a writeup on changing a timing belt?

Haha actually im in the process of doing that this week. with the tensioner, it only compresses like 128th of a inch every minute er something like that. its really friggen slow. but the when you put the pin in the tensioner be careful and make sure that you get it all the way through. cause if you dont. when you pull the tensioner out of the vice. you can break the holes on the outer cylinder of the tensioner. dont ask how i know this.

also you something very strong for a pin . i like to use a reall really small alan wrench. but if you dont use something really hard it will push out and bend whatever it is that you put in there.
