vf34/vf22

ok i blew up my vf22, it was the best turbo i have ever tried. now i put on my vf34 so i can drive and have a turbo on my car.

my question is if i take the cold side fan off the vf22 and stick it on the vf34 would it work?

the vf34/vf22 would be ball bearing fast spooling, and give me back my huge top end power, and keep the boost out of the low rpm's where i dont need it.

why do you guys think?

its like the vf11 vf17 t-bird think we all did on this board.

OK--I'll bite---what were you doing when it blew :?:

And please provide some vivid details.

After all--life is a learning experience. 8)

^^i was thinking of getting a huge turbo, but so much custom work i got no time and my dad will kill me.

subtle i was getting ready to pass a slow truck and i hammerd the gas and swoosh bang no turbo, it blew up. but when i got the turbo off the motor with the heads, it sound very weird from the get go! i never heard a noise like that from a turbo. i think it was just a bad turbo.

what do you guys think of my vf34/vf22 plan will it work? they both use the same rear hot fan size and all, just the front fan is a little bigger on the vf22. then i will have a ballbearing verh.

I think it would be a prett pointless swap, the compressors on both turbos are rather similar, it's the turbines that are different, and where the VF22 produces more power than the VF34. And if you were to swap turbines, it would probably be more cost effective to just stick with a VF22.

well why dont you get a turbo from deadbolt that has the free rebuilds for life.... that way you could blow them up all you want :)

It's a working day for me, so right now the speed shop is installing the new vf34 :-)

Including some other mods, the car should be ready by Friday afternoon.

Looking forward to the week end :!:

Project_Legacy it can be done, i just need a new vf22 fan.

THAWA the rear fans are the same size, its just the front fans that change in size. so i would just swap fans and houseings, then test it out on the car, i have a crazy feelling that its going to be very intresting, with the set up i have right now.

gt2.5turbo i think you may be right on this one, i wish i could find a place local like deadbolt.

Subtle take some pics, i want to see it. i got my aluminium hood from japan i can show you. i am going to dig them out.

Nico, remember that post on the TSC regarding the vf22 for sale... as you know i picked up a vf34 after waiting a week for the guy to reply. Turns out he needs to get rid of it still. I gave him your name and number. Check the thread out.

I'll give you a call later today... I'm visiting the shop that said they'd do the A/C retrofit for me. Have to see how it goes.
