the compendium is a bit vague concerning the stock 05 STi springs.

will they fit on a 90 FWD legacy sedan?

we have a line on a set of 05 springs for very cheap and will use them if they fit.

According to numerous threads on this board, the 90-91s will accept 04-05 springs. The front should have no issues, but the rears for FWD and AWDs are a bit different in height. Depending on what kind of tire/wheel you have in the rear, it may or may not rub.

Nope. See my post at the bottom of the stickied 04+ springs thread.

90-91 will accept 04-05 springs, 92-94 will accept 02-03 springs.

But if you're planning to swap the entire strut/spring assemblies, then as long as you don't mind enlarging/elongating the strut mount holes in the rears, any strut/spring assembly from 02-05 should fit.

04-06 WRX springs will fit 90-91 Legacies, but I think the STi stuff is way too different to fit without mods.

it seems from the threads that i have read is that the problem comes if you try to use STi struts and tophats but if you use just the springs you are fine.

Yeah, the springs will fit any strut, and the front struts are the only problem, the rears are the same.

wait, what?
so much confusing information in this thread

will 04 sti springs fit on 92 turbo struts? yes or no?
will 02 wrx springs fit on 92 turbo struts? yes or no?

i have a chance to buy both of those which will work the best?

All Legacy, Impreza, and Forester front springs fit all Legacy, Impreza, and Forester front struts.

All strut based Legacy, Impreza, and Forester rear springs fit all Legacy, Impreza and Forester rear struts.

Of those choices, neither is really better then the other. The spring rates and free length is wrong for your struts, so it'd be silly to use them on your struts. Especially if they're the stock struts.

all of the suspension threads can get so annoying, even this one (and i started it!).

argh.

who are you taking to THAWA, when you say "your"?

as far as i know we are going t give the 05 STi springs a shot on the FWD 90 w/gr-2 struts. for the price we found we might as well do some research and see what happens.

if they are a disaster we can always put the stockers back on and sell these easy enough.
