You know ebay has a new feature where you can do 'standing searches'

Basically, you have ebay email you whenever there are auctions that match a certain search string

That's how I found my 1991 Legacy brochure.

How is this a good deal when the engine is bunk?

It just had compression problems in one cylinder - that's salvagable IMO.

You say "just" like its a $20 fix. Anything is salvageable, but I just dont see how this is a good deal.

its got well over $500 in parts so from that standpoint alone its a good buy.
if fixed, it is worth quite a bit.
its rare as hell. even stuff like datsun 510's that were once trash are now worth 2k for a crappy one.

*shrug* That's cool, I like the fact that you'd have passed that one up. $500 turbo Legacy = new project car for me.... not like I'd need it working perfectly ASAP.

Moot point, as I doubt such an opportunity will appear so close to me anytime soon. Oh well.

Compression test could mean a lot of things...

I'm not saying its not a good project car, but I dont see it as a good deal. If the engine was fine, yes it's one hell of a deal. Or if it was like 200 bucks or something.

I buy stuff on ebay, but I've never sold anything on ebay. Hence, I have no buyer feedback. So to me, that doesn't mean much. I wouldn't hesitate to buy from someone like that. Than again, I have never been burned on ebay, either. :?

its a great deal when you have a full extra drivetrain waiting for a shell....

would that extra drivetrain be red and very rusty?
