In the time since I posted, the tropical storm warning all along the coast has turned into a hurricane warning. Gotta love the Gulf's warmth...

So far today, it's just been a deluge of rain, which we needed, so no one's really complaining all that much. It'll probably be more of the same tomorrow.

Yeah. I never got that, I've been trying to leave Florida for a while now. Everyone wants to live in America's penis for some reason.

Do they even realize that there's more fecal matter in the water there than almost anywhere else in the nation?? (see latest Popular Science magazine) My overall health has improved drastically since moving out here....

Regardless of how much shit I'm drinking everyday (I didn't know that Chris! Blech!), I'm just really sick of it being feast-or-famine.

In 2000, we had the driest summer in recorded history, and half the state was on fire. Aid came down from almost every other state to help us contain them. 6 years later, I still drive past some sections of woods that are burned from those fires.

Then in 2004, we get hit by 4 hurricanes in 3 months. It was a disaster. There are STILL people waiting to get their roofs fixed from the 2004 hurricane season, right now!

Now, in the past couple months, all the rain had disappeared again, and more of the state turned into a fiery hell. Last month, I drove right past a woods fire making a delivery. The flames were no more than 5 feet from my truck. The next day, that road got shut down due to visibility issues from all the smoke.

And now we're getting rain dumped on us again.

Enough of this shit!

Yeah....I want out of Houston....I really think I'll feel better. I wouldn't say I'm sick all the time, but allergies and other odd crap would probably go away.

I just think the name Alberto is funny.

I hear that.... the whole Florida-On-Fire / Florida-Being-Flooded cycle was really getting old.

And God forbid if you need to get some gas at the wrong time there.... I've almost gotten into fights at gas stations over who gets the pump next. Most Floridians don't handle crisis situations very well, and they're packed pretty dense down there. It could get real ugly with a real shortage.

Last I saw, there were more blue-tarped roofs than shingled ones. Saw a few spray-painted sections of fences and plywood with the words "FEMA who?" around, too.

So.... yeah. It's almost like Mexico now. Don't drink the water. And for the retards, that includes the ice you might use to cool other various beverages.

Glad to live in PA...we don't get hurricanes; we get snowstorms.

We may have short nice seasons and lots of rain here, but we don't have any natural disasters. Or too many old people. Or bugs. Or humidity. Or bad food. Or W supporters. Or our own special tag to identify the source of stupid news on fark.com. Must be why real estate's so high here.

People do like Florida, though. I hear it all the time. I no longer pretend to be excited for them.

I'll stick with the great northwest. We may be on a fault line, but haven't had earthquakes of any significance in ages, we have mild winters, and mild summers. In Seattle, we're 30 minutes from the beach and 2 hours from the ski slope. I can't think of a better place to live if one can put up with the rain.

Great ! Now they have another reason to raise gas price..

The fact the NW hasn't had any major earthquakes in ages really should be of concern.....

And you put it nicely.....if one can put up with the rain......I couldn't. It's unfortunate, because I loved the area and all you can do.

mt. rainier's about due as well. and the next quake is supposed to be BAD. like in the 8's to 9's. hopefully one doesnt trigger the other. I'm not sure if seattle would get hit too bad by a Tsunami due to Puget sound being relatively sheltered to something like that but a lot of areas in the puget sound are very low lying and would be prone to bad flooding from the rise in sea level of a tsunami.
the PNW is very liveable except for the rain. and maybe a bit too liberal(better than too conservative I guess). but the summers are amazing. never too hot, soooo green. great ocean and beautiful mountains.
CO is nice. sunny all the time, lots of outdoorsy stuff, no stupid liberal overload or conservative overload, great air, no bad natural disasters near me except some forest fires and maybe the potential for a bad blizzard(which doesnt concern me that much).
the only thing i dont like about CO is the lack of an ocean.
once I'm out of school I'd like to go to OR somehwere or northern WA up near arlington.

5 mins. from the beach and two hours from the mts, plus history that can't be touched. People live in houses built in the 1700s here as if they were regular homes (with big utility bills) and Salem was such a huge trade port that 90% of the US income came through here and lots of countries thought Salem was its own nation. There's the witch thing that gets all cheesy with tourist shit, but there are plenty of real ghosts here... If I could somehow figure out how to set up overnight tours I'd make a fortune.
