I have a 93 SS 5spd.
It has over 230,000 miles. The engine runs great, tranny is great.
Comp = 155 to 160 all 4.
It's been stock all its life
Been on Valvoline 10/30
I'm pulling the motor/tranny to do clutch/flywheel
I plan on doing:
Timing belt
WRX lightweight+6 puc
JDM WRX turbo
air/water intercooler
3" Dp/ex
group N mounts
bo/bp valve
Nissan injectors
SMT-6 fueling+timing
pump
wideband.
12-15 PSI.
Of course I'll do all seals/hoses/vacuum/grounding/fluids
So what about giving it up to 15 PSI @ 230,000
Anything else to do while motor is out?

check tolerances on water pump, oil pump and replace as necessary
replace o-ring in oil pump

15 psi should be fine considering all the stuff you are upgrading (intercooler, fuel, EM, turbo). Assuming you don't screw anything up, 15 psi should be pretty conservative. Lots of people run 15-16 psi with less infrastructure upgrades.
I don't think the mileage is too much of an issue. The age of our cars IS an issue, everything is rusted and leaky, but I don't think the engine even knows the difference between 80k miles and 230k miles
As for "what to do with the engine out", that's one to search on

No rust I have a Southern Oregon Car:tup:
I have searched for "what to do with engine or motor out" (+ every veriation I could think of)
Searching the "engine" forum returns this
http://bbs.legacycentral.org/search.php?mode=results
The "what U should know" forum returns this
http://bbs.legacycentral.org/search.php?mode=results
and searching "all open forums" returnes tones of unrelated threads.
So I need some help.
Anyone have a link???????
Thanks
Brice

That will be a good setup, you still need a FCD though as the perfect power does not change factory fuel cut.
Does it currently consume any oil between changes? Your compression is good so I say go for upping the boost. I have personally worked on cars though where 192K good runner turned into a major oil consumer after increasing boost levels.
Do you use synthetic Valvoline? Your turbo can cook the dino oil quickly, especially if you start pushing boost levels. It's a risk IMO running non-synthetic
What CC are the injectors? Your ecu will adapt to somewhat larger injectors eliminating the need for perfect power at those boost levels if you run a FCD. We've gone 440cc, VF39, DOHC heads/mani, thick bar and plate top mount and 15psi with no managment. Yes, stock ECU. EGT's and AFR good and safe. It may not be ideal but it works and feels great.
As far as other things to do while the motor is out, timing belt rollers, tensioner, water pump and change to redline synthetic for the tranny. I think a 6puck is overkill for your HP and increases risk of breaking the glass tranny, a 230K tranny. Still I'll shoot you some costs on the setup you want after the holiday.
