Anybody care to bet it fetches more on ebay than his original asking price here?

These blocks seem to go nuts on Ebay from what I've seen.

So how rare is something like this? Once in a lifetime? Once in a week? Any day of the week if you know where to get one?...

Be cheaper to rebuild a usd one. You could buy a whole parts car for a few hundred dollars.

This is quite rare.

Dealers can't even get them unless they provide a VIN number to FHI. I know of a certain dealership (not saying names, and it's not mine) that is actually picking Legacy Turbo VINs out of AutoTrader and such just to produce to FHI so they can keep one or two EJ22T's in stock.

Still a lot of money for a shortblock. The ones I've opened with 83k and 175k are both very good, though the higher mileage one could use a rehone it could get away without it. Someone looking to spend this much would probably be better off with just the block since they'd likely be upgrading pistons and possibly rods.

This is the strongest motor that Subaru has ever produced. 2.2L FULLY closed deck block, with forged internals..
Uhhh. . . am I stupid, or does this sound wrong?

I should clarify . . . the pistons are commonly included in "internals"

All Phase I Subaru engines have forged internals, minus pistons. So yeah, the guy probably just doesn't know that.

Yeah, hell . . . he may have been misquoted by whomever sold him the engine to begin with, too.
