Well had this bright idea to port and knife my throttle body and well and fine and put it back to tougher and car does not idol well at all. So I have heard that if you knife your throttle body that is to be expected, so I found a used throttle body and did a light polish job no knifing on this one. Then I start the car and it is doing the same thing bad idol then when I hit the gas it hesitates horribly. Checked spark, checked compression 180 all around, and checked for vacuum leaks. Nothing there, so I do not know where to turn next any suggestions? :?

there is some black stuff that they paint on and around the edge of the butterfly and where it sits when its fully closed on the TB. If you "clean" or remove this stuff the air slips past when its shut and you have a rough idle. dont know about the hesitation when you step on the gas though. did you remember to reinstall the vacume line that plugs into the TB and make sure it did not come off where its connected?

Hesitation comes from you're Throttle Position Sensor not being set properly for your engine. I had the same issue went i swapped TB's.

Well I have ajusted the TPS and the throttle is nice and responsive now, but I can not hold a steady rpm, and the car will not run by itself for more than 30 sec without stalling.

I don't know how many times I tell peopled....don't F with your TB.....they are picky little bastards on the first gen legacy.

Does your TB, have a little screw on the top of it?

Try screwing it in and out until things seem to run better.

Adjust the TPS according to this information

If you don't have the screw, and adjusting the TPS doesn't do anything, I'm not sure what to tell you, other then getting a used TB.

Well I have recieved a used throttle body and the car with a few iac tweaks idols great. But the problem is when I hold the throttle open at like 30% the car will not rev and hold at a consistant rate no matter what tps ajustments I make any sugestions??

Changed plugs no diffrence but they were really black hence running rich, could it be the coolant temp sensor rough idol and hesistation I would say yes on the temp sensor but what gets me is the when open at 30% throttle the car dies please help it is getting to a point of mass frustrasion. I have also reset the ecu and put the iac and tps in stock postion and no diffrence.
